Eager2Travel Posted June 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2016 We are thinking of booking a cruise on the Explorer for next spring. We will be onboard the Mariner in late August. I am trying to decide if it is best to grab a cabin now or wait 7 weeks in order to get all the onboard benefits. I know that Regent will sometimes apply the onboard discount if final pay hasn't been done. I am not sure what other benefits would apply except for price guarantee. I would appreciate hearing what others think is the best way to go.
Rare ronrick1943 Posted June 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks, me too.....We booked to get the suite we wanted. I didn't think they would give you the discount even if final payment hasn't been paid. I like to know if someone that booked before the cruise got the discount. What is the discount? What is any other benefits? Rick
Travelcat2 Posted June 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) Yes - you can book now and have your TA rebook when you are on another cruise IF (and it is a big IF) there has not been a price increase and there is still availability in the category that you booked. We have done this previously. The "new" price guarantee is too new for me to have a full understanding. I believe (not sure) that you only get the price guarantee if you book onboard. In terms of the amount of the benefit -- it depends upon the length of the cruise as well as the category of suite that you are in. For instance, on our November, 2016 Explorer cruise, if you are in a Master or Grand suite, and had booked in advance onboard, you would get a $500/person credit. For the lowest categories the credit is $150/person. Hope this helps. P.S. As a reminder, prices increase on July 1st for "some" cruises. There is no way to know if advance if your cruise is one scheduled for an increase. Edited June 29, 2016 by Travelcat2
Rare ronrick1943 Posted June 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks, didn't think I'd get it-but it's always worth a try. Rick
Eager2Travel Posted June 29, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks, TC for the info. It corresponds with what I am remembering. I think I will have the TA look into availability to help with the decision. I am glad it helped fill in some info for you as well, Ronrick.
