Conquest - June 25 Short Review

I don't have it in me to write a lengthy review but I'll answer any questions.

My son and daughter and I sailed on the Conquest on June 25 to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Grand Cayman. This is my 3rd and their second cruise. My daughter and I shared a balcony- my son had the inside room across the hall.

I love the decor on the Conquest it is all designed after Impressionist artists and very stylish. I've heard the ship is showing signs of wear but I did not notice any of this.

Our room was 8417 and it was very loud - right under the Lido. I wouldn't recommend this room but it did not really have a negative impact on our trip. It was also very hot. And we never got around to complaining. I really didn't think there was much to do about it. I've heard lower inside state rooms are cooler. Our room steward was super. Brought ice daily and serviced the room twice daily. The laundry room on 8 did not have any working washing machines. I like being on 8 on the AFT end of the ship because it is a quick stairs up to LIdo - restaurant and the adult pool. Short elevator ride down to our dining room and the Degas lounge for comedy.

Dinner - we ate every night in the dining room at 8:15. We were seated with a nice trio of travelers and enjoyed their company. Our wait staff was the best I've experienced - Ratna, Suma, Anna. They were very attentive. They made recommendations and sometimes brought extra dishes. They were very good about odd requests. The food ranged from ok to very good. The best dish I had all week was the Mushroom pasta. Other standouts were the crabcakes, the Mahi Mahi and the Flat Iron Steak. I enjoyed all of the cold soup appetizers, too. The best desserts were the carrot cake, the Smores Parfe and the cheesecake.

We didn't do any of the big shows because we had just been on a cruise in October. We did do a lot of comedy and enjoyed it all.

Josh was our CD and he was awesome. He did two history lectures one on the Titanic and one on D-Day and I enjoyed both of them. He is a very good speaker.

I tried Tea for the first time on the first sea-day. I didn't stay long. They had not turned the AC on in the dining room and we were seated at a big table with a noisy group. The chocolate cake they served was good but we could not get any service to bring ice water and it was just too hot for tea.

The Cafe has better cake than anywhere else on the ship. If you like chocolate cake and cheesecake this is worth the extra money.

I ordered the pay room service twice. I got a pizza and another time fries and chicken tenders. Both were worth the extra bit.

Guys Burgers was always good.

We ate breakfast and/or brunch in the dining room several times and really enjoyed it. The lines on Lido at breakfast were always long.

Overall it was an excellent cruise and I would not hesitate to sail the Conquest or Carnival again. We were on vacation and we relaxed and there were not hiccups that directly affected our enjoyment.

I too, thank you for taking the time to write your review. I haven't sailed Conquest for a long time, but do have it booked again in Jan, 2017. I look forward to a GREAT CONQUEST CRUISE! ;)

I was on the same cruise as the OP. If I wrote a review, it would be highlighted by the special attention and perks I received as this was both a casino fare booking as well as my Diamond cruise.

There was one positive stand out experience when a young girl cruiser, maybe 13 or 14, sang a Sarah MacLachan tune, In the Arms of the Angels, in the casino with Carnival's solo guitar player backing her. Fantastic voice, hit all the notes right and absolutely nailed a very difficult vocal.

There was also the negative incident where 2 women got so drunk and whatever that they couldn't stand and were puking their guts out in the shuttle bus coming back from Tabayana Beach. One woman almost fell off the pier as she was dragged by her friends to get back on the ship. Carnival security had to put her in a wheelchair to get her back on board. So intoxed that she couldn't lift her head up except to vomit, let alone stand. I saw her 2 days later, so at least she didn't choke on her puke while she was passed out.

Thanks for your review! We are doing the same itinerary on the Conquest on July 23. If you remember, could you tell me which nights were the elegant nights on this cruise? Thanks very much!

The elegant nights of i remember right were the 2nd day (sea day) and Grand Cayman night (day 6). Have fun, we really enjoyed this itinerary. Mahogany Beach was my kids favorite .

How was getting on and off the ship? We are on the Conquest and have an early flight day of return and have heard horror stories. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Cruisers with early flights were given low Zone #'s like 2 to 5. Walkoffs had no problem. I was told to meet in the Cassett Room on deck 3 with my carry on luggage and Josh the CD personally escorted us diamonds off the ship. Nothing like getting the heave ho! Customs was still setting up at 7:40AM and we had to wait until they were prepped and primed. I offered to use my global entry, but I was 1st in line and waved through.

Caught a cab and was at FLL in about 12 minutes. I checked with Delta to see if I could transfer to the 9am flight, but that was delayed until noon or so. So I just had a bagel for breakfast and waited for my 11AM flight back to LGA.

So if you have an early flight, make sure to get a low zone #. After I debarked, the platinums and FTTF's assembled in the dining room were next to go, followed by the rest of the walkoffs, then the zones.

For both of you that were on this cruise, how was the embarkation?

What time did you arrive at the port? What time did you board? Did the staff have everything organized?

Thanks!:)

My plane landed at FLL around 10:30AM and I was at the cruise port by 11. Wasn't much of a priority line, regular check in lines were longer.

Only problem I had was when the guy behind me started cursing and dropping F bombs every other word because there was a large group of maybe 10 having their ID's pre-checked and only one employee checking them. The group may have been a little unfamilar with the procedure (1st time FTTF's?), but that in no way justified this guy's rant. I asked him to chill out, but he kept us his juvenile act. I then signaled for a wheelchair person who was just rolled in to go ahead of me, but Mr F Bomb got an elbow in his ribs from his wife and he shut up.

I believe I was in my cabin by 11:35, I unpacked and was up at Lido by noon.

I didn't find anything "unorganized" by the staff.

So I'm assuming you got FTTF? Were they boarding the boat when you go there around 11? I'm assuming since you were in your room by 11:30 there were no delays.
