jocko4279 Posted July 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2016 I saw a report that it wasn't working last week & was closed. Seems to be happening quite a bit over the year & a half it's been in service. I enjoyed it immensely my last cruise, and would be a little bummed if it wasn't functioning come this Sunday! not that it would make or break my trip, but it's quite a rush. Especially after a few miller lites. I'm just perplexed why they can't get it fixed and keep it fixed, and have a plan of action should something go wrong with it while cruising. pohlerbear Posted July 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2016 It was down our entire cruise last August, so sadly we did not get to try it out. Sorry to hear there are still issues with it. Hopefully its fixed before we return this August.
MaxTheHorse Posted July 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2016 It was operating I think one day on our cruise last week (6/26 sailing), then down the rest of the week. I did see a dude working on it intermittently. The attendant on the yellow slide said the Green Thunder door wasn't working right when I asked him about it on Wednesday, June 29. jpstuhr Posted July 6, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2016 Was working intermittently on the June 5 sailing. Trap door wouldn't open. Seems the attendant would reset it and it would work for awhile then stopped working again. Got to ride it a couple of times, thankfully. Hope they get the bugs fixed for future cruises. Hribal Posted July 7, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Well crap! We are sailing on her in a few weeks. The last time we sailed on her, the kiddie section was closed. I am not one to complain but we want to enjoy ALL the amenities that we are paying for.

newcruiser08820 Posted July 12, 2016 #18 Share Posted July 12, 2016 Two weeks ago was open on embarkation day and during Freeport stop while in Port. Few other times I was there by the splash area, it was closed and guys were working on it.... probably same guys as reported in different threads/posts. treasurespast Posted July 12, 2016 #19 Share Posted July 12, 2016 Sorry to ask a dumb question but . . . what is green thunder?
tidecat Posted July 12, 2016 #20 Share Posted July 12, 2016 Sorry to ask a dumb question but . . . what is green thunder? It's what is known as a "drop" slide. You start standing on top of a trap door, which when it opens, releases you into the water slide. I believe Green Thunder has a 34 foot drop, and is found on 3 of the four Spirit class ships sailing for Carnival (Pride, Spirit, Legend) although 2 of the 3 ships sail primarily in Australia. Disney Cruise Line's AquaDunk (not AquaDuck, the water coaster) is the same type of slide. The tallest drop slide on land that I am aware of is in Louisville, Kentucky at Kentucky Kingdom, at 121 feet. skywalkr2 Posted July 13, 2016 #22 Share Posted July 13, 2016 I need to someday retire and do B2B cruises. I always have a book, and never have time for the other things on board. Would be nice to have time for everything.
