Mahogany Bay

About as safe as any of the islands as long as you stay away from the drug peddlers. I highly recommend hiring a driver through Victor Bodden if you want to really see the island. The big problem with Mahogany Bay is that they won't let the other tour operators into the pier area, so you have to pay for a taxi ride up the hill to meet them, or be prepared to hoof it. At least in Coxen Hole all of the tour operators are right there by the parking lot.

 

We did not care for the beach at Mahogany Bay at all. It was wall to wall people with 2 ships in that day. The loungers were pretty broken down and the floats smelled of body odor so bad we didn't dare use them. The water had a horrible oil sheen. We paid $50.00 for the package and spent most of our time standing in line to get our stuff and then standing in line again to get my license back after returning the floats. We spent all of 15 minutes on the beach.

 

If you want a nice beach then make arrangements to go over to West Bay to Tabyana or Bananarama or go to one of the hotels.

We've also always found Mahogany Bay Beach to be a nice clean place for a beach day! :)
