tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2016 (edited) Has anyone paid in Canadian yet? I am just about to pay a deposit in CAD, and I just want to make sure there will be no surprises...it just goes on your Canadian credit card with no problem, even though it's an American company? My TD Visa says it should be fine, but hope someone has had the experience! Thanks! Edited July 15, 2016 by tropicalkerry2002

They're giving you guys a 15% break and free airfare from Ottawa, Toronto or Vancouver, these days- ;)
tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 15, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 15, 2016 (edited) no, it's just a cruise quoted in CAD, rather than USD. It'a bit of a break, not 15%, when they convert to CAD. (shhh, don't tell RJB!) Edited July 15, 2016 by tropicalkerry2002
Rare LHT28 Posted July 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2016 I booked our past April cruise in USD & got the CAD discount so cannot really comment Plus my CAD CC has that hidden FTF in the exchange conversion I would ask your TA if she knows how it works ..she is so smart I bet she will know ;)

JimandStan Posted July 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2016 they have always given the "free" airfare :D Agreed, but apparently it was not good enough for just you and I to know that- They insist on telling EVERYONE!

According to my TA, to pay in CAD, the cruise has to be after late spring 2017 and the exchange rate will be adjusted every quarter. tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 15, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted July 15, 2016 Yes, my May 2017 cruise has to be USD, my 2018 is CAD.
john2003 Posted July 16, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 16, 2016 I havent seen anything official about paying in CAD as opposed to the Canadian resident discount. Where did you get this information from? I did email O a couple of months ago for clarification but never received a response which in my experience is normal.
tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 16, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted July 16, 2016 (edited) for 2018, Oceania is accepting payment in several currencies including: CAD, AUD, NZD and GBP. They aren't published, but your TA will give you the quote. Edited July 16, 2016 by tropicalkerry2002
potterhill Posted July 16, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 16, 2016 Wondering if it's actually charged in USD but the appropriate equivalent to rate quoted in CDN..... Mo Sent from my iPhone using Forums
john2003 Posted July 16, 2016 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2016 My understanding from the above is that the entire transaction is in CAD. Thus depriving the banks of their 3% bonus on my cruise.
Rare LHT28 Posted July 16, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 16, 2016 (edited) I would be interested in their exchange rate they use some lines will use their own dynamic exchange rate which can be higher than just using a CC (without FTF) Edited July 16, 2016 by LHT28
tropicalkerry2002 Posted July 17, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) Oceania says it's charged in CAD, and their exchange right now is 1.25. Edited July 17, 2016 by tropicalkerry2002
Rare LHT28 Posted July 17, 2016 #15 Share Posted July 17, 2016 Oceania says it's charged in CAD, and their exchange right now is 1.25. Well that sounds like a good exchange rate then I can buy 1 USD @ $1.315 at the bank as long as your CC has no FT fee it should work out
