Dealbreakers for booking a cruise

Thank you Mrspete. I would have been upset also. That's why I asked. Also I am doing my first Holiday cruise this year on X. I love Traditional Dining, but if I get placed in the kiddie section( that's what I would call it too) I will be very angry. Hopefully as a SOLO they will squeeze me somewhere.

Thank you for sharing.

On our last holiday cruise we were initially sat in a corner way back in the MDR, between a door and walkway. In this particular section, the chairs and tables were completely different to the rest that were being used in the MDR. After the first night, we were polite but complained to the Maitre d' and requested another table as we felt completely ostracised from the rest of the diners. On the subsequent night, we were reassigned to a table on the level below in the centre of the room - so much nicer :). So, if it happens, speak to the Maitre d' ;).

When did you cruise on the Equinox? Admittedly I've only been sailing since 2012, but Celebrity has had no indoor smoking (or on verandas) since I've been cruising. Thanks! Edit: I see you cruised Equinox in 2014 and 2015. There shouldn't have been any indoor smoking, including the casino. I'm confused.

I was thinking something similar. I'm also curious as to how the PP's define "liberal smoking policies". Several have used this term and I imagine it's got to be subjective. As far as I know, there aren't any lines besides HAL that allow smoking on balconies, so that's not hard to avoid. Many also prohibit it in the casino (like Celebrity). I'm a smoker but personally I haven't smoked indoors anywhere for years so I don't exactly know if today's ships have designated smoking lounges like they used to.

I was on the Equinox in 2014 and 2015...objected to the smoking areas around the jogging track.

Don't remember which ships it was, but didn't like smoking permitted in the casino or in part of the casino.
