RCCL tour "Island of Capri"?

Recommended Posts

We will be on Brilliance next month luckily have private tours for most of the stops, but for Salerno we want to do Capri, was wondering if any one has done this RCCL tour ( we have seen Naples and Pompeii already)

thanks

We have done both the RCI Capri tour with guide and again on our own both times from Salerno.

The only benefit with the organised ships tour was the trip over to Capri as they had there own ferry on the return journey they used the same ferry as all other people who had done it themselves.

The tour guide was absolutely hopeless never gave you enough time anywhere always rushed stopped for a two hour lunch break which was an hour to long seemed as though he just wanted to herd everyone around to meet up with his mates. He never stayed with us over lunch not that it mattered but just went off somewhere else.

The following year we did the trip on our own great trip had loads of time everywhere far more relaxed and enjoyable.

Busses are waiting for you at the dock to take you up to Ana Capri.

Be sure to visit the villa at the top it's to your left and also ride the chair lift to your right.

There are also the little boats at Capri dock to take you on trips round the blue grotto.

The ferry is really easy goes a five or six minute walk from the port gates you can see the ferry from the ship.

From memory got the ferry around 8.30am and came back about 3.00pm

Bewhere if rough seas the ferry does not run but it looks as though you are travelling in September so hopefully the ferries will be fine.

We visited the Isle of Capri on our recent Harmony cruise.

I'd suggest doing this excursion on your own and without RCCL. The Capri ferry is an easy walk from the ship. Ferry tickets can also be booked in advance.

We also stayed at Bagni Tiberio, a small private beach resort. Ideal for families. Great on-site restaurant too.

We did the RCL tour from Naples some years ago. The price was a bit expensive, but included a wonderful lunch at a hotel with all of the wine you could drink. Also, included tickets for the gondola ride that took you to the top of the Island--talking about a view--simply breathtaking!

The next time we wanted to take the same tour, it was more expensive and did not include lunch. We opted for a tour that we made our own pizza and to tell you the truth, it did not come out too bad. All the wine you could drink was included. LOL

Why would you pay for their excursion when DIY is soooo easy?

We never take tours in Caribbean since we have been just about everywhere several times, but I like a tour on places we have never visited. hopefully we will visit again and then do in on our own

Only reason to for sure use RCL is you are guaranteed to get you back to ship if seas are rough etc.

I agree, could not find private tour for this, have private tours for all other stops, almost everyone else in our meet and greet is doing Pompeii which we loved but we want to try Capri this trip
