Dear CELEBRITY Santa...we at CC have a list.

Danno

Recommended Posts

Just to prove a point....

I don't think toddlers are a good idea on X ships (just my opinion)...it has been meantioned that I must hate kids.

I also don't think dogs on an X ship would be a very good idea (sorry Andrew)...goodness, I must hate dogs too!!!

One dog...just one...that we could drop by on and scratch behind the ears.

There is a hotel in Vancouver, the name escapes me, that has a dog with the doorman...he is available for walking, to the hotel guests...what a great idea

Nice dream Danno, but not realistic. There are a lot of people who are allergic to pets. Also, one dog for over (let's say) 500 pet lovers is going to rub the fur right off of the poor animal. He wouldn't even be able to do his business without interruptions (unless they have a business path in the bowels of the ship).:D:D :D

I posted this on another thread sometime ago, but I don't remember where. Someone other CCer's were discussing how much they miss their pets when they cruise, and thought if we brought them along, our furkids could make good use of the poop deck! All of the waterparks in our area have "doggie splashes" on the last weekend of the season. People can bring their pets to play in the wave pools, ride the slides, whatever they want...since they have to drain all the water & clean the equipment when the season ends anyway. It's become very popular, and they've even added a swimsuit competition to the festivities! Maybe we can convince the cruiselines to let passengers bring their pets on the sailing before a ship goes into drydock. Many upscale hotels (especially outside the US) cater to pets. The W in NYC even offers complimentary dog-walking services for guests.

After being away from our Russian Blue cat ("Vodka") for a 2-week cruise in September, DH says the only way he'll leave the house for that long again is if the cat goes, too. Funny...I've never heard say that about leaving ME!

I think we're onto a new theme cruise here. Come on, Santa, everyone knows you take Rudolph & the gang everytime you go on an around-the-world trip!

Dear Celebrity Santa,

I've still been a good girl! :D Can I add one more thing to my list? A great, uniform customer service on land that knows the whole and correct information about any cruise when you call?

I think the same hotel (Hotel Vanouver?) willprovide you with a dog to walk, if you mis your own. Isn't that the best?

I believe there are several hotels in Vancouver that offer a dog to walk or have in your room overnight. They are all in the high end like Fairmont, Hyatt, and Four Seasons. For all of you that hate to leave that pet behind!

I am from Seattle and am planning a trip back to visit with grandchildren. Am staying downtown at the Monaco Hotel, primarily because they are pet friendly, and offer "loaner" goldfish to guests traveling without their own little critters.

Dear Celebrity Santa,

Just wishing for some nice "holiday atmosphere" on the Galaxy. Christmas decorations would be nice too. Grandma wouldn't take us to Aruba because it is not "Christmasy" enough  So we be cruising...

Also, if not too much trouble, beautiful hot sunny weather. A light shower in CR & Panama is ok, we'll have our 99 cent disposable ponchos

Cold windy weather the last day at sea returning to the real world, is also okay. It will forces us to pack, make our last shipboard donations and begin the mental adjustment to returning to reality :( ...

On the subject of pets, I know you will watch over our 5 furry babies until we return.

Celebrity Santa , please bring the Port of Jacksonville back. The cruise I took on Zenith from there was wonderful. I could book another cruise for what I have to pay for airfare and hotel rooms for cruises from Ft. Lauderdale.

Danno: Just happened upon this thread. So sorry to hear of your dog's passing. Glad you found a new friend!

The unconditional love & affection a pet gives its owner is priceless.

I recently came back from a cruise on the Connie. On the day I was suppose to pick up my cockatoo, Snowey, the vet tearfully told me that Snowey had died. I was devestated!

In the past week, I too have seen many abandoned animals just waiting for someone to love them & return that love. I am glad you were able to to share that love again.

Dear Santa:

My list is very short. I have been a good girl and have cruised a few times this year.

I have left lots of money for others in the cassino. Do you think that when I ask for a glass of water in the cassino, I can get one?

BTW, I left some iced Raspberry Cranberry juice by the fireplace w/some waffles w/sour cherries.

Oh, one more thing...do you think you can play more music from the 70's+? The baby boomers represent a large market.

And thanks for the great room on my last cruise.

Claudia

Danno,

Maybe you were meant to help me - I have a 14 year old Border Collie/Australian Shepard. He is almost blind now and can't hear. His greatest joy was running around the pool, herding the kids and barking. Now his bark is gone too. He does not appear to be in any pain but he just walks in circles, running into things. I can't bring myself to make that trip to the Vet. I know there are many kinds of suffering - I just can't convince myself that he is. How did you "know" it was time? Sorry to intrude on this Santa board - if Santa could make him a pup again I would be happy.

Morriscats- how difficult for you. :( My suggestion, having been through this before too many times, is to make an appointment with the vet so that he/she can really evaluate your dog. If the dog isn't in pain, and seems otherwise happy to be petted and fed, it might not yet be time. :)

On the other hand, the vet might be a better judge of pain that the dog might be experiencing. Many dogs want nothing more than to please their companion, and so they suffer in silence...The trip to the vet might give you some peace of mind. I'll hope for good results.

If there were any way I could make your Christmas wish come true, I would.

Andrew

Dear Santa,

I've been pretty good this year, at least I haven't been caught ;) doing any thing bad. Could you please bring me a non-smoking section and a little better odds in the casino on the slots? And a choice of pre-booking afternoon shore excursions because I don't like getting up early in the mornings when I'm on vacation. And if it wouldn't be asking too much, how about some drink specials for good alkies like me? Bring those $8.50 buckets of beer like on Princess. And those sailaway specials where you can buy a bottle of your favorite liquor and a bottle of mixer for a reasonable price to keep in your cabin. :D Oh, and I like the idea of 70s and 80s music in the Disco for us 40-somethings too. And cheaper bingo cards. And sunshine and calm seas, and world peace. Gosh, I ask for a lot don't I?

And I want to add that I feel for you guys with elderly pets :( . My 26-lb cat is 12 years old now, and is moving kind of slow. I don't know what I will do without him when its his time. He's just like a child to me. However, he doesn't want to go on a cruise with me, he had a large list of things to do while I'm gone.:)

Morriscats,

I have had 2 cats...one for 23 yrs. and one for 25 yrs. When the "time" came, I knew it....she was listless, staring at walls for endless periods of times, and just didn't seem like her "ole self".

I truly believe it's the quality of life they live, not especially how long they live...

Animals "suffer" quite differently than we perceive they do. They get "still" and quiet. I know you'll find the strength you'll need, when the time is right...

No, but I was just reading through this thread and then I realized that it had started a few years ago. I had a big lump in my throat reading about Danno's dog. Then I realized it was exactly 2 years ago.

If you're reading this Danno, my wish from Santa was to make your buddy a puppy again. And my Border Collie, "Rocky," turns 14 Dec. 17th. 2007.

Dear Celebrity santa.

I have realy tried hard to bee good. and I don´t belive I have been caught othervise:rolleyes: .

Please could you adjust all these modern cameras, so they will take pictures as good and accurate as my first camera did.

And all the mirrors could need adjustment, or much less light in the room.

Finaly when I walk down the gangway the last time, could you take away the kilos i gained and don´t add them to my luggage or DH will get backproblems.

And then one comment more. I have a dog and I love it. But I would never bring her on a cruise where my company would be the only thing she could enjoy. Cruising is a people thing.

honestly to weeks of smelling lamp posts, chasing rabbits and eating raw bones (not to mention other items:p ), would be my nightmare, but my dog would LOVE it.

I do leave her with people she know very well, she loves them and they love her. And they have a lot of space and other dogs.

That way we raely enjoy to relax together when we are back home.

So my biggers wish: give all the animal a good time both while we cruise:D and afterwards.

I will leave you some danich goodies to warm you, and the reindeer
