luvcarnival Posted August 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2016 I'm thinking of surprising my DH for his 50th birthday with a Penthouse Suite. Any recommendations as to location? It is the Pearl Jan 25th 4 night sailing to Western Caribbean. Thanks! Joy
NLH Arizona Posted August 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2016 I love the aft penthouses on the Pearl. I've stayed in 10164 (deck 10) a number of times. I like the 10th floor because there are staterooms above and below and the balconies are very large. 10164 is a corner cabin, so you only have folks on one side. 10664 would be the same. Rare Turtles06 Posted August 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Totally agree that the Deck 10 SFs are the best SFs, because the balcony is so much larger (deeper) than it is on the SFs on the other decks. And you have cabins above and below.
luvcarnival Posted August 27, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Thanks so much. I have 10664 on hold. Since I've never had a suite, just wondering what a decent price would be in Jan for a 4 day. Right now the suite is a total of $600 more than a midship balcony. It seems like a good deal. Rare BirdTravels Posted August 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2016 That is an excellent price. We actually prefer the forward facing SE penthouse suites. The churn of the water aft is a bit loud.

I'm just the opposite. I love the sound of the water from the back of the ship and would leave my balcony door open 24/7 if I could. I could never sail in a forward penthouse because of the wind. And this is what I love about cruising, there is something for everyone.

And we do leave it open at night while we sleep. Or cracked anyway -- about 2 inches or so. I use 2 window locks like these to keep the sliding door from moving back and forth.
