Rare cruisemom42 Posted September 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2016 It is very, very unlikely that you will find a taxi at the station in Civi. The cost would be minimal (maybe 10-12 euro depending which part of the port you are headed to) but I would certainly not build your plan on the assumption that you can get a taxi there. Perhaps you could plan to take the number of a local taxi service with you and call them to dispatch a cab. If you do that, the rate will be higher as taxis normally start charging you from their starting point, not where you get in.
twin123185 Posted September 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2016 Is it possible to catch a taxi at the train station and having him drop us directly at our ship? How much should it cost? All the cabs I ever encountered there are total rip offs. They want €20 to go to the ship from the area where you get the free bus! They even wanted €20 to go from the bus area to Hertz. My guess is you will pay at least €20. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Denis54 Posted September 1, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted September 1, 2016 OK. Taxi is a bad idea. What are my alternatives? Can we walk from the train station to our ship? We are good walkers. How frequent is the bus from the station to the shuttle bus stop? Where do we take it? How is it identified?
twin123185 Posted September 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2016 I am pretty sure there is a bus. I just don't remember! The buses at the port to the ship run all the time. You can't miss them. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Hlitner Posted September 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2016 You have a few options for getting to your ship. There is a city bus (you buy a ticket at the train station before boarding) that takes you about a 1 mile to the shuttle bus stop...where you catch a free port shuttle bus to your ship. Another options is that you can walk from the station to the nearest port entrance (by the old fort), enter the port, and keep walking all the way to your ship. Depending on your docking position this can be a long walk....or a very long walk (perhaps up to 2 miles). A 3rd option is you can walk from the train station to the Port Shuttle boarding point (about a mile and this is further then just walking into the nearest port gate by the fort) and then use the free Port Shuttle buses. Hi Denis, I was looking for some information as well and I found some very helpful suggestions and even more helpful video on another thread; http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2381696 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9ibAJ38fKQ Perhaps it will be of some use for you. thunes Posted September 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 8, 2016 You can absolutely get a taxi from the civitavecchia train station, and it can take you directly to your ship. I unfortunately know this because we almost got left behind when our train was severely delayed in Rome. Some other passengers on our train called the local taxi company, and they told us the taxis would be waiting out front. They wouldn't reserve one for us. We made it with 10 minutes to spare! Not all taxi drivers have a pass that allows them to go through the port gates so it's important to check.
KiwiGal117 Posted September 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2016 We were in Civitavecchia on the 24th (we stayed overnight for our Aug 25 departure on Harmony). A couple on our train were embarking on another ship and there were several taxis waiting at the train station. It was 20 Euros to the port, but I don't know if that was direct to the ship. We walked to our B and B, then the next morning, walked to the old port entrance (which is close). About 200 meters inside that old port entrance (on your right, look for the glassed 1 or 2 storey building) there was a free shuttle which took us to the main shuttle area, where we switched to a bus going directly to Harmony of the Seas pier and check in area. 20 Euros, even if it took you directly to the ship, was a scandalous amount. The road from the train station to that old port entrance and shuttle mentioned above is flat, though cobbled, so not super smooth to drag your luggage. amet beach Posted September 10, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2016 We had no trouble walking with our luggage from the train to the ship's free bus. We each had a smallish roller bag and a small day pack. Sent from my iPad using Forums

tdtanc Posted September 29, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 29, 2016 Thank you....that screen shot worked perfect. On a Mac you press Shift/ Command/ Three to take a picture of the screen. Googled that!
