Free Cruise for Playing in the Casino?

On our cruise on the Legend last week we received an envelope in our cabin with a letter stating that my husband had received a free cruise (interior cabin) for playing in the casino.

Has anyone received this letter before? Is there a catch? Is the offer just for him to cruise alone or for two people?

I am just trying to figure out whether it is even worth following up on.

It is called a Bounce Back and it's for two.

It's worth it. Enjoy!

There is no catch. They want him right back in that casino.

You need to act quick, it is a limited time offer. He must have played a lot or won a lot. It is based on how much money goes through his card account. Glad you got a freebie, that's great. Hope you can find one that works for you.

You can pay to upgrade to a higher level room if you don't want inside room.

Go for it...our last several cruises have been bounceback offers through the casino. Read the details it says when you need to book by and cruise by. We usually bump up to balcony or suite and only pay the difference and applicable taxes.

Cheers good luck and happy cruising.

About to go on our third. It nice to feel like we git a 'free' cruise. In reality we pre pay in the casino :)

You have to book in 14 days of debarkation of one you are on and cruise with in 6 months. If you cancel after then are penalized the retail value so get insurance somewhere. Some come with drinks on us like our upcoming did for both in the cabin, and some have money to start gambling like our last that gave us 150.

Cruised last month with a friend who invited me as a guest on a bounceback.

It was great. Lots of perks. I didn't know I also got Drinks on Us from Day 1. Comped from the casino host for alternative restaurants, wine at dinner every night and there was always cookies, strawberries etc. in the cabin every day.

I've also gotten bouncebacks on my own but was unable to use them at the time.

You only pay port charges and taxes....We did 8 day Caribbean for $248....can't beat it!

As others have said, don't pass on it out of hand.

DW and I are sailing on a 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Glory in the Captain's Suite the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The total cost for the upgrade was $600 each, for a total of $1,490 with taxes and port fees.

We would never pay the kind of money a cruise in the Captain's Suite is, but upgrading from a free interior on a Bounce Back offer to this room for less than upgrading to a balcony was a no brainer (to upgrade to a balcony it was $700 each, a suite upgrade was $600 each).

You can price the cruises with upgrades to your Bounce Back offer on line as long as you are signed in to your VIFP account. I researched what was available, found this deal, and called our PVP. He was surprised at the offer, but confirmed it was valid and booked it for us.

Congratulations, it's really a free cruise.

Yep, got a free casino cruise last year around this time, used it for our anniversary. It was for an inside cabin and we only paid taxes and port fees which was less than $200. Totally worth it. Was hoping for another one lol, but did get a casino offer for a cheaper rate to sail our anniversary cruise this month.

How much was everyone here playing daily in the casino? I'd just like a range to see what triggers the free offers from Carnival. Thanks!

Me and the wife usually bring $1500 each on a 7 day cruise to gamble with. The last two cruises neither of us really won anything big (a few hundred here and there) and we both got bounce back cruises. I can't remember exactly how many points I had but it was around 5000.

Thanks for the reply! That's good to know! Both people have to get the points? Or can just one person get it and then bring their spouse along?

It's a little different with slots players vs. table players. As a matter of fact, table players don't actually accrue "points" in the same way that slot players do. For slot players, 5,000 points in a one-week cruise seems to be in the ballpark for a bounce back offer. For table players, I have read it's more like $25 minimum total bet at a time (can add up to $25 for games like roulette and craps) for a minimum number of hours each day. I do believe that the amount that someone buys in for as well as how they stand at the end of a cruise are also factors. Further, there are different bounce back offers. A PMI offer is good for a "free" cruise for up to 15 days and generally comes with the drinks on us card automatically included and is generally available for more sailing dates. A PMB offer does not come automatically with the drinks on us card (has to be earned all over again on the cruise) and has fewer available dates. Both offers are generally given out to qualifying players the last day/night of a cruise, have to be booked within 2 weeks and have to be taken within 6 months.

I play almost entirely craps. To get to $25, I bet a $10 pass line bet (with odds - that probably don't count since there's no casino advantage) along with 2 come bets at $10 each (also with odds). In April I finished down about $2,000 for the week - got awarded a PMI offer. Took a 9 day cruise the first week of August - upgraded from an inside to an ocean view, my cost (for 2 people) was something like $400 (taxes and port fees). On that cruise I ended up ahead about $750 for the week. Was given a PMB cruise- very limited dates that I could use. Was able to take a 4 day cruise a week later - inside cabin for 2 was about $160 total. Lost on that cruise (about $1,200), was awarded another PMI offer. Will be going on a 6 day cruise in Feb. - was able to book a grand suite for an additional fee. The on-line price (for 2) is currently about $3,200 for the grand suite for that cruise - my cost is $900 using the PMI offer. Well worth it to me.

Probably more info than you needed, but that's my experience. Have sailed more than a dozen times on NCL's Casinos at Sea program - I find the Carnival promos to be MUCH cheaper for their "comped" cruises and their drinks on us card is far superior. The NCL program has gone way down hill in the last decade, for now I'll be sticking with Carnival.

No this is EXACTLY what I wanted to know! I think it's interesting that the cruises you lost money on are the ones that got you the PMI offers. This is very useful information thank you for taking the time out I appreciate it!

If you get an offer it will be for 2 people in an interior cabin. One or both of you could each get one, which would be 2 separate rooms for 2.

For example, me and my wife both got one. So I booked a room and she booked a room on the same cruise. I put my brother-in-law with me and she had her sister with her when we booked. Each room cost around $190. That is the taxes and port fees you have to pay. Once we got on board we went to guest services and just swapped rooms.

We also just could of booked 2 different cruises for just us. One under me and one under her.
