Walk to beach in Ft. Lauderdale?

Wondering if it's possible to walk to the beach in Ft. Lauderdale from the cruise port?

It begs the question: Why would you want to?

 

From which terminal? There's a big difference between Terminal 2 and Terminal 23.

Yes, it's possible. Could be a mile and a half or further depending on which pier in the port. Easier to take cab or Uber especially with busy traffic in and out .

A little reading around the board would reveal that Port Everglades is not very walkable. However, if you are docked at Terminal 2 or 4, it is possible. It is all of 1.5 miles each way...probably more. A look at Google Maps would help you.

Of course it's possible but it's not an easy walk. It's 1.25 to 2.5 miles to public beach access, depending upon which cruise terminal.

I had a conference at the convention center next to the terminal. I walked from my beach hotel every day, not sure if I'd want to do that with luggage.

An alternative to walking if you are at Terminals 2 or 4 near 17th Street is to flag down the Sun Trolley (http://www.suntrolley.com) on the south side (port side) of 17th Street. For $1/ride or $3/day pass it will take you to the beach.

Sure its walkable, but again, with luggage? What about that 17th street bridge? Its uphill half way!

OP hasn't mentioned suitcases. And doubt she/he would want to head to the beach with luggage. :D

As a side bar, depending where you are from taking a walk in the FL heat can prove difficult.
