Rare POA1 Posted September 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2016 We're on deck 14 and have two balcony cabins next to one another. Can the divider between the two balconies be opened?
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2016 The official answer is "no" it is not allowed. That being said, talk with your room steward(s) and ask them nicely to open the divider. They will probaby do it. Ask them to keep it open throughout your cruise. When you are in port, the crew sometimes open the divider so they can walk the length of the ship (figuratively) and wash down the balconies and railing. They will close the dividers as they get done.

dolita22 Posted September 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Sailed the Escape in January in a balcony on deck 14. The balconies of three mini-suites next door to our balcony were opened and they stayed open all week. The people had asked their room steward, who opened them for them. davidwar Posted September 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Was concerned about this too since in July I had adjoining balcony cabins on deck 9. Asked the room steward when we arrived if he could open it up and he did so right away with no issues.
packer99 Posted September 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2016 We were on deck 13 in March and they were opened by our cabins steward without hesitation. She did close them the last night which she communicated right away.
Shawnkat Posted September 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2016 We were on Escape on 8/20 with connecting cabins on deck 8. After meeting our room steward, my first request was to open the balcony divider, which he said "no problem" and did it right away. It made a big difference given the small size of the regular balconies.

liser1232 Posted September 14, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2016 I also was on the Escape Aug. 20. Deck 14. No issues to open the divider. It was brilliant to be able to go room to room without going into the hallway. We then didn't have to worry about trying to get into each others room, since your sea card is only programmed for one door.
CRAustin Posted September 14, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Wow, such respect for rules. I figured some snarky individual would have a smart a$$ comment. Grow up. The point is the rule is not consistent and we had 3 cabins together if we wanted to sit together and socialize and then close it who is that affecting no one. mickev99 Posted September 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 14, 2016 I opened ours w a car key after the steward said no to my request. I wish I had thought of that. Two cruises, one mini suite and one balcony....4-5 rooms of family members and they wouldn't open it either time.

Kruizin'Kath Posted September 15, 2016 #14 Share Posted September 15, 2016 We always tip our steward at the start of the cruise and have always had the divider opened for us!
