Free event drinks on cruise

I am going on Escape this week and heard that there are some events throughout the cruise that have free drinks available. Is this true? I do not have the ultimate beverage package as I don't drink a ton, but thought it would be nice to still enjoy some alcohol at no cost.

Latitudes Cocktail Reception for invited guests

Cruise Next Cocktail Reception for invited guests

I had not heard of the Cruise Next Cocktail Reception...how do they pick who to invite?

Am I correct in thinking that they hold two Latitudes Cocktail Receptions and have half of the returning guests at each one no matter what your level and that the Cruise Next CR is specifically for Gold and Platinum guests only?

The stuff at the art auctions is not, and never will be champagne. It is a 2 buck fizz. I find that a toothbrush is better for cleaning my teeth than that stuff!

Don't be cruel; 50c maybe!! :D It is about as Kosher as many of the "originals" that are sold.

At least the Platinum Rewards have acknowledged that their free gift is "Sparkling Wine". :)

I wonder what would happen if the Comité Interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne (CIVC) ever heard about the use of the term by Park West for the "Gnat's P..s" they pass off as champagne.

On two cruises over the past two months, there has been a wine and cheese cruise next reception in the stack of coupons (Le Bistro dinner vouchers, laundry, behind the scenes). That is really wine and cheese. It is in the latitudes package.

There has been a separate piece of paper with an invite to a separate cocktail party which served various drinks and canapés. More up scale. Sometimes called the raffle party because on some ships they do giveaways. But associated with latitudes and is in the latitudes package.

Then their is the card from the hotel director and concierge to a third party (sometimes called the suites party) with suites guest and I guess platinum members and others. Again, more upscale (more martinis less rum punch).

I have never seen them split the "Members Only Cocktail Party" (the one with the raffle, for all returning guests) into two halves. On the megaships, they just don't have one.

Silver and above get invited to an "Exclusive Onboard Gathering with Ship Officers" (aka wine and cheese party, hosted by the CruiseNext consultant). Pretty boring. It's nothing but cheese and crackers, and often there are no officers present, unless the CruiseNext person is technically an officer.

Another tip for the OP is to try to hit the MDR at the busiest times. They will sometimes give you a voucher for a free glass of sparkling wine at a nearby bar while you wait for your pager to go off. (Not sure if they do this on the Escape.)
