Hi

Has anyone had a recent experience on the Anthem of the Seas with a Royal Genie? I am looking for what the experience was like with communication before the cruise, check in at Star Class in Cape Liberty; the whole experience. I have seen only one.

Thanks!

We're sailing in 5 days. Genie sent us the Loop contact 10 days out. Communication ok, but I expected to be contacted earlier. Stay tuned.

We're also sailing on 10/15 and haven't gotten anything yet. Called Royal and was told that if we don't hear from our Royal Genie, we'll meet him/her onboard. Not acceptable since one of the "perks" is assistance with check-in. So far, not impressed. Hopefully, it will get better.

Start worrying if you don't hear anything at the ten day out point (Oct. 5). That's when you should receive the Loop link. And yes, you should provide your port arrival info, dining, and special requests BEFORE you board.

We were on an Anthem cruise this summer along with another couple also in Star class. We both heard from our genies about a week before the cruise. The genies pay attention to your answers in the questionnaires and do take care of any special requests. An email from each genie asked further questions and asked about anything we would like taken care of, what are special preferences were, etc. We were met at the pier by the genie who took walked us through security, check-in and had our luggage taken right to our suites. From car to suite took approximately 10-15 minutes. Once onboard, our genie set up a time to have a planning meeting (if we wanted to) and took care of everything we had asked, made suggestions for shows, dining, etc. It was a fantastic each experience for all of us. The genies are busy during each cruise taking great care of their current passengers and helping the next cruises passengers with emails, requests, etc. If you are sailing the second week of October, I would suspect you would hear from the genie the first week of October. I imagine each genie has their own timeline they deal with.

If your genie is anything like ours, I don't think you will have any problems or anything to worry about. (Our genie was Mimmi - can't remember the name of the other couple's genie.)

Funny, as I read this thread, our Questionnaire pops into my email. We are sailing on 10/29. One Question? Do all guests get the questionnaire? Or just the primary on the reservation? So far only one of us has gotten that email.

Thanks very much. Happy cruising everyone:D

Lisa (DW) and I each got our own email questionnaire. Our DS (9 years old) did not.

There is a special area with a large sign at Cape Liberty for dropping off your luggage for Star class guests and meeting your genie. As you get closer to the terminal, just stay in the right hand and someone will direct you where to drop off your luggage.

Is this area staffed all the time? I read awhile ago that there was no one there to meet you if you arrived early.

Thanks for the information. I was wondering where the Star Class entrance was.

Good to hear. We will be two weeks out next Saturday so hopefully we will hear from ours then as well. Looking forward to hearing about your experience. Enjoy your trip:D

Someone should be there at all times. I don't know what time they would start standing there in the morning, I'll see if I can find out for you.

Star guests would go to Zone 6 to drop off your luggage. Attached is a picture of the kiosk sign for Star Class that is in front of the terminal. Sorry, don't know how to rearrange the picture.

Hi I am new to the group.

I am a bit worried I set sail on 10/20 on Anthem and have not received any communication from our Genie. I did receive and complete the survey several weeks ago. Still need to book our dinners in the specialty restaurants etc. Will contacting Royal's customer service accomplish anything?

Thank You

Hey there! I'll be on the 10/15 sailing as well. (We have an Owner's Loft Suite booked.) Derick will be our Genie. He's been very responsive to communications via Loop so far. We're doing specialty dining each night of the cruise and he's already setup reservations for us each night.

Lucas46972... you're genie will reach out to you the Sunday before your cruise. So look for your email this weekend. On both of my Star-class cruises, the Genie reach out has been on the Sunday before departure.

RadioRob - Thank you for the information, was just getting a bit concerned because we have some reservation we need to make for the Specialty dining. We were going to do them on the RC website but it wanted to charge us :-)

Thanks again

Don't worry about your reservations. Your Genie can get you in wherever you need to be. :) There are spots held for Genie use that are not in the main inventory.

I told my Genie what I wanted from a high level (specialty dining each night), Wonderland on the first night... and let him take care of the rest. I got an email yesterday confirming everything is set. Have loved the experience so far.

I received my email with my dinning confirmed as well, but based on what I heard, the Genie walks you to your suite with luggage. Derick told me that my suite will not be ready until after 12:30? That was surprising.

Hi there!

I talked about this with the Genie on my last cruise... basically what happens is it depends on how fast the people are in leaving the room on the cruise before you. Star Class suites are the very first ones to be turned over as they're going to be the first to be occupied. If the people in the room before you don't leave until 10:00-10:30... it's very hard to get the room fully turned over right as you might be coming aboard at 11. If the prior occupants are out earlier, they'll have the room ready before the next boarding begins.

I think he's trying to set worst case expectations. It could be ready sooner. Also new for this cruise versus my first Star Class cruise was the night before departure email. I just received an email from Derick a little bit ago saying:

Dear Mr RadioRob,

It's almost time for you to experience the wonders of the Royal Suite Class as a Star Class suite guest. Your Royal Genie eagerly awaits your arrival. With regards to that, kindly be advised that tomorrow your drop-off point, at Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal, will be Zone 6. There is a large purple banner, which says Star Class, at the location. Please do not get off at any other zone. Once at Zone 6, kindly identify yourself as a Star Class guest and the assigned pier staff will ensure that your luggage is loaded onto a cart and will be sent directly to the suite while you go through the check-in and security screening process. Your seapass cards will be at the door of your suite. Your suite will be ready by 12:30pm, at the latest.

I will be informed of your arrival, if I am not already there waiting for you, and will be escorting you onto the ship. If I am escorting another guest onto the ship, please wait for me in the VIP waiting area, inside the terminal, and I will be there to escort you as soon as I can. Kindly be advised that there might be some waiting time involved, especially if you'll are arriving early at the terminal. Also, I might have to escort multiple guests at the same time, if they arrive together. I thank you, in advance, for your kind understanding and patience in this matter.

Lunch will be served at the Coastal Kitchen from 12:00pm to 1:30pm and at Solarium Bistro from 11:30am to 2:30pm. If you'll arrive early and your suite is not available, I will take you'll over to either of the restaurants, depending on your arrival time, where you can enjoy your lunch whilst your suite is being made ready. Once the suite is ready, I will come and escort you to the suite, if I am not escorting a guest on board at the time. If I am, then will come over as soon as I get the guests on board.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries with regards to your arrival at the port.

Kindly be advised that I will not have access to either loop or my email during the boarding process. Should you need any assistance, prior to your arrival to the pier, kindly contact XXX-XXX-XXXX (11am onwards, on boarding day) and the Star Class Pier Agent will assist you.

Wishing you a safe and pleasant journey to the beautiful Anthem of the Seas!!

Thank You.

Derick Martis

Hi, how does the tipping work for your Genie? I have never stayed in a suite on RCL. I understand it is based on how much they do for you BUT what would an average tip be? Also, when do you tip?

Also, if anybody has any other tips about the Genie service, please let me know.

Thanks

We sail on the 29th on Anthem and just got our first email from our Genie. That email asked for specifics, dinner preferences, mini bar preferences activities that interested us etc. Also explained Labadee and suggested that if we want a cabana on barefoot beach to let her know now. Also explained that in about a week we would get our "Loop" Communication tool invitation.
