Purchasing 12pk bottled water when on board vs bon voyage

If you have purchased the $3.99 12pk of bottled water after you were on board vs pre-ordering it online before the cruise, did they charge gratuity on it?

I thought there was tax on the bill when I pre-purchased water for delivery to the cabin before I boarded. An insignificant amount, but the total wasn't $3.99.

 

While I haven't done it, I don't believe that tax is charged when the delivery occurs after the ship gets into international waters.

I believe if you order after you are on board, you have to be in the room to receive the delivery. If you pre-order, it is in your cabin when you arrive.

My water wasn't in my cabin when I arrived but it was there within 3-4 hours. I pre-ordered and didn't get charged anything but the price stated.

We bought ours a couple of weeks before we sailed on both of our last 2 CCL cruises. Both times our credit card was charged $3.99 and the water was in the cabin when we arrived.

I just pre-order ours for cruise on Oct 17 out of Galveston TX and we were not charged a tax or gratuity

On board, you order through Room Service. No gratuity added, but you should tip the person who delivers your order as you would any Room Service order.

On our cruise last August, the water we pre ordered that was delivered was Crystal Geyser.

No spring water in most ports, with the exception of Alaska, I think. All purified city water. I'm not fond of it, but for a week, I can tolerate it...lol

I pre-order so it is there when we board.

 

I am, however, this cruise checking in the onboard stores. If they sell Fiji or one of the other spring waters, I will buy it, regardless of the cost...

I have scoured the internet trying to find canned or cartons of spring water....to no avail. There is canned "spring" water, that is actually purified spring water - totally different. And there are canned spring waters from other countries....but alas not sold here yet!

 

Simple solution - offer spring as an option to the $3.99 water, even if it is a few dollars more. Purified @ $3.99 or spring @ $5.99. That is my wish...lol

Just placed our order for our cruise in 4 days and no tax. They have the purified water and an Italian sparkling mineral water. I bought the purified water so we could take a couple of bottles with us at each port to stay hydrated.

Why would you want to wait until you got on the ship to order it? I am pre-ordering it to make sure I get water and it will be waiting for me when I get to the cabin. It has been said that there is no guarantee they won't run out of bottled water to sell you so best to order it ahead of time.

In the past they did. I would expect they still do.

Yes. If they charge you tax, try switching delivery from first day to first evening when the ship should be in international waters.
