MoBateh Posted October 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2016 Hi - Since we're allowed to bring a bottle of wine per person as a carry-on, does that also get scanned and flagged?
Rod in Az Posted October 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2016 Hi - Since we're allowed to bring a bottle of wine per person as a carry-on, does that also get scanned and flagged? After your carry on gets scanned, you will be directed to a table to show it to the person inspecting carry on beverages. Depending on their level of interest, they may just look at the bottle and send you on. I have had them just look at the bottle in the bag and wave me on, and I have had them take the foil off and inspect the cork. I think it all depends on how busy they are, but I could be wrong. MoBateh Posted October 19, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted October 19, 2016 Thank you. So if we show them two bottles (1 per person) even though there is 3, we should be OK.

No. They x-ray your bags and will know that you have 3 bottles. Unless you have 3 adults over 21, the additional will be confiscated.
maldenmusic Posted October 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2016 Sometimes they look at my wine bottle and other times not.
john91498 Posted October 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2016 In all my sailings, I've never had anyone inspect my carry on bottles of wine. They just x-ray it and wave me through the check point.

jamesr3939 Posted October 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 19, 2016 We sailed Spring Break out of Galveston and my backpack with two bottles of wine was xrayed. Then I was sent over to another security table who checked to make sure the bottles hadn't been refilled. I was told they are a little more vigilant during Spring Break. Funny thing is I can't recall being escorted over to the secondary table or anybody telling the second screener what to look for. It was far enough from the xray machine I guess I could have just kept walking.
Raxter54 Posted October 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 20, 2016 Since DW and I don't drink, would we be allowed 2 bottles of sparkling grape juice? Sent from my Galaxy
cccer Posted October 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 20, 2016 The only time my wine was ever inspected was when my 21 year old son had one in his carry on. They let mine through and asked to see his bottle. They did not card him, probably just wanted to check that he was not carrying the hard stuff. xbatt8 Posted October 20, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 20, 2016 Since DW and I don't drink, would we be allowed 2 bottles of sparkling grape juice? Not necessarily. You are allowed one bottle of wine or champagne per person, but it does say that all non-alcoholic beverages must be in cans or cartons. While the distinction may be nonsensical, I have seen too many scanners adhere to the letter of the law to make any assumptions... Bob
xitappers2bx Posted October 20, 2016 #14 Share Posted October 20, 2016 Since DW and I don't drink, would we be allowed 2 bottles of sparkling grape juice? Sent from my Galaxy 4 Probably not... and probably not because of how they are packaged; I'm not much of a drinker either, but I do know the smuggle game is real, and I assume it would be easier to smuggle alcohol on that way. I'd love to have sparkling grape juice though. yum!

Sent from my Galaxy 4 My wife doesn't drink, but she really likes the sparkling grape juice. The bottles look just like a wine bottle and we've always were able to get them on board.
