How young is too young to do an airboat ride?

Besides age you should know that airboat rides:

Are very noisy (deafening) and usually require riders to wear earmuff type hearing protectors.

Often include fast, sharp turns requiring that you 'hold on tight'!

May get you wet.

Are not guaranteed to see wildlife (gators, etc)

Personally I would not take a child under 5 or 6.

Check directly with the airboat company you are planning to use...then based on that make your own decision...What many of us are comfortable doing or not doing isn't something you should base your decision on...you know your child ... we don't.

No age is too young. The only kid I wouldn't take on one would be a child who doesn't do well with very loud noises or who gets motion sick.

I recommend going on one that hits up the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, then you'll probably see cattle wading and swimming around.

"No age is too young"...I think this blanket statement is just wrong.

I agree completely. We live in south Florida and often take guests on airboat rides. There is absolutely no way I would take my 21 month old granddaughter on one and I can't imagine doing so before she is 5 or 6. The boats are fast, loud, can take turns at high speeds and, at least as far as I remember, there is no such thing as a seatbelt.
