maggieq Posted November 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) Hello Looking for feedback on this beautiful ship. It is one of the contenders for our nye cruise this year (yes we are booking this late). It is a 9 night carribean and the prices are still pretty decent. We are easy to please like to go hang by the pool during the day, watch a show in the theatre and people watch at a bar and use the gym daily. Can someone tell me about the entertainment, places to grab a drink and relax during the evening? Oh and the house Pinot Grigio. What brand would it be. If I buy up, will they just charge me the difference from the regular drink package? Thanks so much! Edited November 27, 2016 by maggieq
Rare ski ww Posted November 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2016 There are all kinds of threads posted on the HAL page about the Koningsdam. People have posted about their experience on the ship, start there it should point you in the right direction. Hope they help. Allan
sue1898 Posted November 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2016 On your drink package question, you can't just pay the extra - if the drink is over the limit your account will be charged the whole amount.
Lovely other Posted November 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2016 Hello Looking for feedback on this beautiful ship. I don't think you booking late ... We booked our first Koningsdam cruise 4 weeks before sailing and the second one 2 weeks before ! I found the entertainment onboard to be pretty good, although I don't do production shows as such or piano bar usually. The BB Kings were excellent, and it would be the same group of musicians on your NYE cruise as we had earlier in the year as they start a new contract back on the K next week .... I enjoyed the Lincoln Centre Stage as I like a nice glass of Merlot and classical music to go with it on an evening. I found the way they gave background to the music and composers really interesting .... There is always a variety of comedians , magicians , performers onboard and these are really dependent on taste ...some I loved , some I only lasted 5 minutes of watching before sneaking out ! The frozen planet live was excellent ... We are usually Crows Nest dwellers but on our first K sailing my hubby became good friends with a Barman in the casino bar so we tended to frequent wherever Ryan was ... That said we have tried all the bars except the Sun deck one ... The Billboard bar does the best cocktails, the crows nest is great for a chilled out in a big chair kind of drink , the silk den which is a tiny spot in the Tamarind does an amazing cocktail called the 'Black Pearl' ...I can taste it now sigh .... Movies by the pool are good dependent on child levels ... We were unfortunate on our second K cruise to have a bunch of particularly rude children onboard who played there own music by the table tennis tables upstairs whilst the movie was showing ... As long as you don't have that then grabbing a pizza and some fries and settling down to a starlit movie a great way to chill on an evening I can't advice you on the wine as I'm much more of a cocktail or shots kind of girl :p

janmitch Posted November 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 28, 2016 We were just on the Koningsdam this month. We had the drink package and in MOST bars and restaurants, the house Pinot Grigio was Zonin. In Canelletto, there were 2 under the $8 limit, but both were pretty bad. JMHO.
