shredie Posted November 28, 2016 #26 Share Posted November 28, 2016 Cunard is still holding up pretty well, but the "Onslows" are making some headway there as well. Cunard is STILL our favorite line by far! Onslows. LOL. :D Isn't there a sign somewhere saying bathing suits without cover ups and bare feet are not allowed in the buffet? Thrak Posted November 28, 2016 #27 Share Posted November 28, 2016 I wore my bathing suit on each & every day at the buffet on our recent trip as did many others- No problem. Robes are OK I guess as long as you're not going commando. :p Tacky. Very tacky.
shredie Posted November 28, 2016 #28 Share Posted November 28, 2016 Tacky. Very tacky. His room was too hot from the defective A/C, so he needed to shed as many clothes as possible. :D
MrMan Posted November 28, 2016 #29 Share Posted November 28, 2016 And don't forget pajamas in buffet for breakfast. Flannel with little anchors adds a nice touch.
jasmith52 Posted November 28, 2016 #30 Share Posted November 28, 2016 Thanks Everybody So it is jeans & polo top breakfast and lunch, trackie & t-shirt walking round the ship and maybe breakfast, trousers & shirt for dinner and suit for formal nights. It's quite casual for breakfast and lunch. The only rule that I can discern is...As long as the private parts are mostly covered then you are good to go ! Cruisin' Chick Posted November 28, 2016 #31 Share Posted November 28, 2016 I seem to remember seeing info (Patter, perhaps) to wear a cover up over bathing suits in the Horizon and definitely no dripping wet bathing suits (imagine taking a seat on a wet chair after someone who wasn't considerate). If wearing my bathing suit inside the ship, it's because I'm going from the pool area to my cabin, but usually with at least a tee shirt or beach cover up on. For breakfast and lunch in the MDR, shorts are okay, as is around the ship at night if not eating in the MDR or specialty restaurants (but some people would argue that's not okay, and expect everyone follow the dining room dress code even if not eating there). But hopefully passengers will be a little classier than "wife beaters" and wearing hats (unless there's a medical or other good reason) in the dining room even during the day. easyboy Posted November 29, 2016 #33 Share Posted November 29, 2016 We had the same experience as Griller on Princess last year. It seems like anything goes in the dining room even in formal evenings. We saw basketball jerseys with shorts and adidas sandals. Even baseball caps worn backwards. No dress code enforced in the MDR to speak of. Never seen anyone like that on Princess' formal nights.
floridalover5623 Posted November 29, 2016 #34 Share Posted November 29, 2016 I think I am correct in saying you should not go into buffet or other dining areas clad in just a pair of swimming trunks, you need a top, or for ladies a cover up and I believe footwear. Wearing bathrobes about the ship is frowned upon. Not suggesting OP might try do either btw. Regards John Onslows. LOL. :D Isn't there a sign somewhere saying bathing suits without cover ups and bare feet are not allowed in the buffet? I didn't notice a sign if there was one and of course everyone wears a shirt of some sort plus at least sandals.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted November 29, 2016 #35 Share Posted November 29, 2016 I didn't notice a sign if there was one and of course everyone wears a shirt of some sort plus at least sandals. Nope! I saw a few people wander into the buffet on Carnival Legend with barefeet and just a towel wrapped over their (sometimes still dripping) swimwear. We saw basketball jerseys with shorts and adidas sandals. Even baseball caps worn backwards. No dress code enforced in the MDR to speak of. Same here (not on formal nights though). I really don't care what other people are wearing but in 30 cruises with Princess I have never seen in the MDR what you are describing on formal evenings or any other night " Basketball jerseys & Baseball caps on backwards " Tony We have. I'm with you that I don't care too much (but I do notice) what people are wearing. However, if there is a dress code, ENFORCE IT or do away with it. JMHO of course. Never seen anyone like that on Princess' formal nights. Not on formal nights but on our last cruise we noticed several times the Maitre'D (you know, the one in the suit) escorting guests to their table who were wearing shorts, tank tops/T-shirts and or baseball caps. Alaskan Joe Posted November 30, 2016 #37 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Yep. No need to dress for lunch either. Trackies, mmmmm maybe a bit too down market but cargo pants or similar no worries. Please dress for lunch, unless you are getting room service.
