Agree wtih you mostly but if you want to pick a night for steakhouse can understand picking a night where nothing stands out to you in DR.

Ahhhh Ok, hadn't thought of that ;). I always book the steakhouse at least 2 times per cruise...and book it before boarding - but I just book it for the nights I want, lol...so it never occurred to me to consider what's being served in the MDR :o.

You need to book the Steakhouse before or as soon as you get on. Our 11 day was booked by the second day and we were on a waiting list. :mad:Never had an issue before.

I didn't like the layout of the ship...not surprised, because I don't like the Splendor either . I think they needed a bar on deck 5 forward ...the outdoor promenade area. And it was a long trek to the Java cafe (aft on 5) every morning...I am quite used to Java being a straight drop down on the forward elevators.

Thanks again!

I agree, they needed a bar and they really need 2 Java cafes. We were in the Havana area and there was always a line with one barista.

I loved the decor...very sleek & appealing...loved the atrium & casino vortices. And Matt was easy on the ears (and eyes lol)!

Thanks again!

My wife and I agree about the layout. It felt very slapped together and not very efficient. Lots of extra walking and lots of things that are needed in places they aren't located at.

But disagree about the decor. The Dining room was described as an upscale high school cafeteria.

Is there always an 80's party on board? How do you know about that stuff Head of time?

The 80's party is part of any Journeys cruise, which are typically the 10 to 12 nighters.

The Nov 16 Vista was a Journeys 11 day cruise. I don't believe the Vista 6 & * day cruises will be Journeys or have the 80's party.

IMO, the 80's party wasn't a big deal.

That was not our experience on a med cruise. It being bigger than most other steakhouses, I guess that does say it is running popular....

The Nov 16 Vista was also a casino cruise, and the casino was booking free Steakhouse dinners for any gamblers accruing over 4,000 points. That may have accounted for some of the Steakhouse popularity. There were also 140 Diamonds and between 500 and 600 plats on board, and these more experienced cruisers tend to book the specialty restaurants. Even JiJi's was booked solid one evening.

That makes sense, thanks.

LOL.... so I am taking from your post that you loved the ship?

lol --- in short, no. IMO, the décor was cheap and the layout was very inefficient. It appeared slapped together without much thought. It also appears as though they crammed stuff in.

It was a rhetorical question, I thought you expressed your thoughts well the first time.

Evandbob you forgot to mention how fantastic your new table mates were! They were not in their 80's and could hold up decent conversation!

Happy to hear you made it back safely and got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. My friend and I were not so fortunate with the wait for the car rental shuttle. Anyone hoping to get s shuttle from Miami cruise port to the car rental agencies should not choose Avis or Budget. Two or three shuttles went by in the 1 1/2 hours we waited and they were all full. National or Enterprise are your better choices. They use full size buses and go by regularly.

Would definitely cruise with both of you again and enjoy your upcoming vacations.
