porrah Posted December 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2016 We took a VH guarantee for our upcoming Koningsdam cruise and have just received our assignmentin VD 5201. There is a cross at one end of the balcony. Is this a lifeboat? I am trying to find out if the balcony is obstructed. I have tried googling, doing a fake booking to no avail, then I realized that someone here is sure to know. Is VD better than VH? Are we obstructed? Thanks in advance for your help. CruiserBruce Posted December 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) If you look at the chart immediately next to your room on the HAL website, ship deck plans, the cross means your room can be a connecting room. Yes, a VD is better than a VH. No, it is not obstructed. Edited December 2, 2016 by CruiserBruce
WeRockChalkKU Posted December 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2016 Congrats on your upgrade. We had 5070 for our Nov 13th cruise - same cabin design, different location on the deck but was not a connecting one. No complaints from us. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your cruise. Hope you've been reading the recent "live from" posts to help get you amped up for your cruise.

CruiserBruce Posted December 3, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2016 Excellent work Boytjie. Some might think you moved the Legend to make it look like it is right next to the cabin on the deck plan, but in reality that is exactly how the Legend appears- right net to the cabin in question. Galley Slave Posted December 3, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2016 We hope that your neighbors on the other side of the connecting door are quiet and do not get the cruise cough. We could hear every word, cough and argument from the people next to us on the Koningsdam. The ship was full, so there was nowhere for us to move. Boytjie Posted December 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2016 We have had connecting doors on various ships and cruise lines and have never heard much through the door. One time on a non-connecting cabin on HAL we could hear the TV next door though.
SeaBands Posted December 6, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2016 we felt very cramped and the TV was across from the bed so watching it from sofa was difficult as the sofa was much smaller than on other ships. Also no tub but a great shower but also cramped. Won't sail on it again.
