Seattle Sailor Posted December 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2016 Greetings - We fly into Ft Lauderdale on April 1st for our 14n cruise on Celebrity Eclipse on April 2nd. What do you experts suggest we do? Stay in Ft L and try to shuttle to Miami? Are there any recommended hotels that provide an airport pick up and a Miami port shuttle? Thank you for your advice! What do you experts suggest we do? Stay in Ft L and try to shuttle to Miami? Are there any recommended hotels that provide an airport pick up and a Miami port shuttle? Thank you for your advice! This question is asked every week and the answer remains the same: Stay in Ft Lauderdale and shuttle to the POM the next day. No hotel in Ft Lauderdale provides a POM shuttle. You need to do a rental car, Uber or shared shuttle.
HELENPSL Posted December 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2016 Check to see if Celebrity offers a shuttle from FLL to a hotel close to the port. Personally I would stay in Miami since traffic can be heavy depending on the day of the week. Find a hotel with a free shuttle to the port...Helen Sent from my iPad using Forums

We are flying to FLL, arriving at 10:00p.m. for a Miami cruise the next day in March. Because we arrive so late, we are staying at the Hampton Inn Airport North and then taking a shuttle, either SAS or QLS ($15pp) and then on disembarkation day, we will take the shuttle back to FLL. There are many options so you have to decide what is best for you. Happy cruising!
Flymia Posted December 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2016 A popular answer is stay in FTL and shuttle to POM. Why I have no idea. You will have to do the longish FLL to Miami drive no matter what, why not get rid of it on the day you arrive and have a hassle free day of embarkation. Arrive into FLL. If its only two of you take an Uber to your hotel in Miami. Downtown Miami/Brickell area is the best area to stay in for a cruise. The next day take an Uber to POM. It will cost about $5.00-$8.00 depending on where your hotel is in the Downtown/Brickell area to take an Uber to the port. FLL-Downtown Uber will be around $35.00-$42.00 If you take a taxi, instead of an Uber double all prices above.
Lido_Deck Posted December 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 12, 2016 A popular answer is stay in FTL and shuttle to POM. Why I have no idea. Because if you go to a hotel in Miami from FLL you have to pay for two shuttles, one to the hotel and one to the port. Stay at a FLL area with a free airport shuttle and then you can take a $15 pp shared shuttle the next day. Just common sense.
Flymia Posted December 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) Because if you go to a hotel in Miami from FLL you have to pay for two shuttles, one to the hotel and one to the port. Stay at a FLL area with a free airport shuttle and then you can take a $15 pp shared shuttle the next day. Just common sense. Which makes sense for a large group. But for two people with normal baggage. That comes up to a total savings of around $18.00 I'll rather be near the port and enjoy that area than worry about $18.00 For large groups. Absolutely that makes sense given the issues with get the ride twice. Unless the Miami Hotel has a POM shuttle for free. Also hotels tend to be lower priced than Miami and Ft Lauderdale is much nicer than Miami. Much safer, too.
mistycruiser Posted December 13, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 13, 2016 I agree with LidoDeck. We almost always fly into FLL and are coming from the West Coast so it's late by the time we land so we stay in FLL and shuttle to Miami the next day. We usually use SAS and on their website they list the hotels they pick up from.
JohninDC Posted December 13, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 13, 2016 http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist and hotel info. Shared shuttles from the FLL area to POM is easy to arrange - check with SAS, QLS, MJS and Go Airport. Check the shuttle service web sites to see if they pick up at your hotel - saving you a trip back to the airport. Or use Uber for about $40 to get to POM. BlueHerons Posted December 13, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 13, 2016 I would want to go ahead and get to Miami as soon as I arrived. Miami and Fort Lauderdale have two very different vibes. I would not want to have to worry about getting to the port the next day.
daniny Posted December 13, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 13, 2016 We usually stay at the Cambria Suites Dania Beach. This is a hidden secret hotel not too many people know about. They have a free courtesy shuttle that will pick you up at FLL airport. Then we take a shuttle from the hotel to Port of Miami. We use Jiffy Jeff Transportation to get us to the port and back to FLL airport when we return from our cruise. For $15pp you can't beat the price. Highly recommend the hotel and the transportation company.
