lovestx Posted December 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Friends and we have decided to book a Celebrity Solstice sailing on March 29, 2019 from Auckland to Sydney. We have been waiting for a Celebrity cruise that would include Hobart, Tasmania (a bucket list item for our friends who have travelled extensively). We will be booking an Aqua Class cabin. For those who have cruised this route before, is there a particular side of the ship that is preferable (port or starboard)? Other considerations before we book? Thanks. With so much lead time on this, we might as well get the best possible cabin. And, yes, I have checked out the S Class Cabin spreadsheet :)

The airfare from Sydney is relatively cheap and a few extra nights in a Hobart hotel should not be that expensive.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted December 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Going from Auckland to Sydney it is marginally better being on the starboard side, that way you will get glimpses of the NZ coast as you travel down the islands. During the scenic cruising through Fiordland (the region of the three sounds) it's best to be up on the upper decks, weather permitting. The Solstice deck is ideal as you can easily move from side to side to view the scenery. It's a fantastic cruise. We did it last Christmas and are repeating it again in February - it's a great way for us to catch up with friends and family in NZ.
GUT2407 Posted December 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Not much difference. We are heading up the Coast from Tas as I type, theCapt is hugging thecoast and we've had nice views on the Port side most of the day, other trips though barely seen anything. So it varies. lovestx Posted December 18, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Thanks, all. Sounds like we should just pick the cabin and location we like.
