derf5585 Posted November 8, 2005 Author #26 Share Posted November 8, 2005 the canal will not allow a credit card to be used. Other container ships and various boats must pay in cash! OK, The Captain has to have a suitcase full of cash to give to the toll taker. $265,000 would be 2,650 $100 dollar bills. I hope they have a sign saying no pennies. Don't know about the Captain, but I am sure the casino has it. :D I think the cruise lines are charged internally. I guess Princess writes a big check every month.

Coolmama_1 Posted November 8, 2005 #30 Share Posted November 8, 2005 I caught the segment today and it was cool. We were supposed to go on the Coral in January but the dates didn't work for us. Instead we are going on the Star.:)

derf5585 Posted November 9, 2005 Author #33 Share Posted November 9, 2005 Actually they don't pay beforehand...they use EZ Pass! I wonder if the Captain gets Green stamps? Whatever happened to Green Stamps? from http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mgreenstamps.html They were a rewards program operated by Starsky & Hutch (S and H). from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S&H_Green_Stamps
steve2001 Posted November 9, 2005 #34 Share Posted November 9, 2005 What do you think of TO? I'm a bottom line type of guy... When T.O. is on the field we are a better team, therefore he should play. I don't care how they arrive at him playing again, just get it done. The NFC east isnt a push-over division anymore. Unless the Eagles are satisfied with last place, they need to their job: put the most competitive team they can on the field.
Linda the Book Lover Posted November 10, 2005 #35 Share Posted November 10, 2005 snorklgirl, thanks for the great pictures! derf5585, I am aging myself but I remember sticking those green stamps and "plaid stamps" in the books and going to pick out the "gift"! Iamthesea Posted November 10, 2005 #36 Share Posted November 10, 2005 They were a rewards program operated by Starsky & Hutch (S and H). Starsky? :D You mean Sperry. I remember the stamps very well. My mother let me have them and pick out any gift that I wanted as long as I had enough stamps. Those were the good times...before cruising.;)
