I couldn't agree more . On our most recent cruise, we often left after the main course, as we were waiting far too long between courses. When tables for 2 are mixed with tables for 8 in a section, the slow service become quite annoying.

To me, that's a bad waiter.

On my last cruise, we had a 2-top in early traditional at 5:30.

The head waiter for the section suggested that we come at 6:00.

Our 2-top was next to a 10-top with several kids (not sure if they

were in chairs, or not) -- but it was a slow mover.

Our service was perfect. No delays waiting for other tables in

the station. We came after the big table started, and left

before they finished.

In and out in 75 - 90 minutes, as we wished.

One of the things we really like about MDR dinner is the smaller portions. We can eat an appetizer, main course, and desert without becoming overly full. On our last two cruises (17 days and a 13 day cruise tour) I have gained exactly zero pounds. :D

I guess I can say the same of the buffet. I take the first plate & if something is outstanding I return to more but never more than I can finish. It's easier to control when serving yourself & you can see the size of the portion.

The wait staff can make a huge difference. We have had some OK folks and a few outstanding people who took care of our every need and did it quickly and efficiently while still being exceedingly friendly and fun. We absolutely loved Faye when we cruised on Coral Princess. I not only added an extra gratuity (in an envelope with our name, her name, and our cabin number as required) and put in the Made a Difference card but also let Princess know specifically on the survey and by separate email.

I think they just like to hear themselves complain. We do our very best to not go to the buffet, too crowded. We normally go the MDR for all our meals. If there isn’t anything on the menu I want or like in the MDR I’ll ask for a children’s menu. There is always something good on the children’s menu. For a quick little snack, I like to go to the IC.
