antsp Posted January 22, 2017 Author #26 Share Posted January 22, 2017 We are travelling on 2 Sept - Southampton to NYC. Gonna watch the rate and if nothing much changes we'll top up our pre-purchase OBC the week before hand cash it out in the casino on the last night. Will help towards 2 nights in NYC before heading home. Sent from my SM-G935F using Forums mobile app Do you think there's a max you can do
Bluemoontets Posted January 22, 2017 #27 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Just on our personaliser and its giving a prices of £20, £40 or £80 this makes an exchange rate of 1.25.
Host Walt Posted January 22, 2017 #28 Share Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) A caution. With Brexit and the interrelationship of the Euro with Sterling and the US Dollar, the complexity of arbitraging currencies even a few weeks ahead let alone several months can be very tricky business. Add to that the excessively strong US dollar right now and the likelihood that Janet Yellin (the Fed) and the Treasury Dept. will be making adjustments soon and economic policy adjustments resulting from (UK) Prime Minister May's visit to Washington this week and the situation becomes virtually impossible to predict. Add to even that and recognizing that Princess will never expose itself to currency anomalies (in other words Princess will never give much away to passengers or suppliers on mis-guessing foreign exchange), it could be a very expensive gamble for a future passenger to take a defensive position using the OBC options. plumduff68 Posted January 22, 2017 #29 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Do you think there's a max you can do No idea. We've purchased an extra $200 and will probably add another £2-300 to that. You can probably purchase what u like! Our rate works out as 1.35 so well worth it at today's rates. They calculate it as to when u booked. We've got 1.35 bit I've read that other UK bookers are at 1.45!! Pot luck I guess. crows nest club Posted January 22, 2017 #31 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Bearing in mind that pre purchased obc can either be refunded or purchased up to 72 hours before departure, this should not prove too much of a problem.

If people decide to buy OBC or pre pay their tips or buy services, they can cancel up to 72 hours before travelling, as the rate last week fell to a 30 year low, we like others bought at our rate of 1.33. I know that Princess like most if not all Companies who trade in different currencies Hedge those currencies yearly, so at the moment Princess UK is laughing all the way to the bank . You are correct it is unpredictable all we can do is try to give ourselves some extra spending power Sent from my iPad using Forums
daiB Posted January 23, 2017 #33 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Well we have just done the deal and have got $700 at a very good rate. Quite happy with that. If there is any left we will just keep it as we never change cash back to £ as we cruise the Caribbean with P&O. jones721 Posted January 23, 2017 #34 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Can you run through how to cash money out at casino again? If you have to technically use some in the casino, can that just be one of the slot machines a couple of times? And then go and take the cash out? Can this be done at any stage during the cruise or only the last night? I locked in at $1.42 so am going to go and buy more OBC. Thanks! Tracey I've just recently done this on the Ruby, Go to casino, Choose a random machine, Insert your cruise into the machine, Follow instructions with your date of birth and create a PIN number, Load credit onto it Cash out at casino cage And that's it, some say you should play a few games, and if so choose a machine that's 25c a game, not sure if that's essential but I personally would. Easier than going to the bureau de change at home and getting 1.
jones721 Posted January 24, 2017 #36 Share Posted January 24, 2017 So you use your cruise card? Don't have to get a casino card? Wasn't quite sure first tie I read your instructions. That sounds easy enough. Thanks.
