If anyones interested, the light has just become good enough for the web cam to show her historic transit up the amazon. Wish I was there so hope everyone on board is appreciating it as much as I am appreciating the vicarious view

Macapa to Manaus to Santarem back to Macapa and then on to Rio.

I read somewhere that QV is the largest ever to go up the Amazon.

 

Makes me hope their bottom surveys are up to date.

The Amazon is incredible - all on board QV are having a fantastic time. We are in Manaus tomorrow which should be a great day :)

Manaus is amazing. I was expecting mud huts and grass skirts but what we got was skyscrapers and a fantastic Opera House, built from imported materials from Europe!

 

Pavarotti had been there taking the Opera House tour the week before we were there (2003) and just went up on stage and gave the tour group an impromptu concert!

 

A fascinating place.
