Ferry to Baths - Prebook

I'm not sure if there's some savings advantage to prebooking, but honestly there's no need. Simply walk there and buy the tickets. You aren't assured any seating. You just get your ticket and walk around the corner to get in the area that the ferry pulls up at.

There wasn't a line, but everyone was just standing in this area behind a gate/barrier to get on

There's plenty of room.

You won't have any problem making it. We planned to leave at 8:15 but weren't ready until 8:25. Were at the ferry port around 8:40 and on the ferry about 8:45. No problems, they never filled up. Sold tickets until they left.
