Am prepared for inclement weather

Have I mentioned the chaotic tender process? Why oh why doesn't Princess allow one person to collect tickets for their group? This phrase is likely to be repeated in future posts.

The pier is really busy..... people are looking for taxis to take them on tours as in other ports of call..... there are only 2 taxis in Stanley.... most of the organised tours are full already.

Clay pigeons to answer your question

This is Nyree who is to be my tour guide. Two expected cruisers fail to show. She manages to fill those spaces easily.

She employs many drivers who can take 4 pax in each 4x4.

I get to ride shotgun with her.

Very bleak terrain on a miserable morning

The speed limit is 40mph

The only set of traffic lights on the islands.... roadworks. They are slowly renewing the road surface.

I am in awe of the terrain and how harsh it is out there..... thinking of our soldiers at this time

Nyree was brought up on this farm. She was one year old at the time of the invasion. Her father would assist stranded British vehicles to get back on the 'road'.

There are 'gates' that need to be opened and closed en route.

Have I mentioned that I don't do white knuckle rides? Nyree has been driving 4x4's since she could reach the pedals and peer over the top of the dashboard. Most of her drivers have similar experience so they all know the terrain. She is taking a direct route from A to B. One of her drivers has only lived in the islands for 35 years and she regularly checks on his progress on her CB radio!

Currently 26 hours 15 mins into my journey home. International flight delayed. Made good time changing airports.

Thank you so very much for sharing your amazing cruise with terrific photos and informative commentary. I am even more excited about taking this trip in Jan 2018 because of all that I have learned from this blog.

I look forward to following along on your next journey. Safe travels.

Donna :D

Really sorry about the plague of duplicate posts...... have asked for them to be removed.

I've been flamed on social media about this blog. Happy it is being read and commented on.

Would just like to point out that I'm female. It's in my name. And all the opinions are mine. All mine.

Only mine. And the only time I've sweated was in the line at the pier in Ushuaia.
