NECruiser83 Posted January 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Hi all, This is my first time sailing with NCL, I have sailed 3 times with RCI. Our cruise is on the Getaway in November. I know we still have about 10 months, but typically how far out are you able to reserve the Cabanas on Harvest Caye. I was surprised to see I am unable to book any shore excursions yet. I know there are limited Cabanas and we will be sailing with my elderly grandmother and would love to book a pool cabana so she has shade. Also, I would love to hear feedback from anyone who has had a Pool Cabana or just feedback on Harvest Caye overall is appreciated! TIA Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Driberif1 Posted January 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Not sure why it is not letting you book excursions, we are sailing in April on the Getaway and we were able to book our cabana at Harvest Caye and all our other excursions right after we booked the cruise many months ago! If you scroll through here there is already a few posts about the cabanas and Harvest Caye and they also include pictures. You can also go on youtube and search for it and there are a few videos up. Thank you! I am going to call, because no shore excursions are available online yet for any islands, which I found odd. Being new to NCL I wasn't sure if it was because we are still a ways out from our sailing date. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
NECruiser83 Posted January 27, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Well, that was a big waste of time! LOL After waiting on hold for 10 minutes I found out if it doesn't show online it doesn't show for them either. He couldn't give me a time frame, just to check back periodically, so I guess I will start checking on a weekly basis Sent from my iPhone using Forums
PopPopBear Posted January 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Was there last week, on the Dawn. Hopefully, you will be able to secure a pool cabana reservation. If not, there are umbrellas at each set of loungers that provide quite a bit of shade. Seemed to be plenty of open space at the pool as most guests headed for the beach. SquishTheWhale Posted January 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) We also have no excursions for our October Escape cruise, someone from our roll call called ncl and they said 3-4 months before. Seems daft as people will get bored of waiting and book privately. For my Epic cruise they were available 9 months out or more. Anyway, there is little to no info on the pool cabanas. The poster above probably thought you meant the beach cabanas, as far as I know nobody has posted any pics or info on them yet. Hoping someone visiting HC can at least take a picture of one soon! PopPopBear Posted January 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2017 To clarify, the loungers around the pool have umbrellas that provide a lot of shade.
trackstarsmom Posted January 27, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Do the beach and pool cabanas usually sell out? Or can you decide when you arrive?

Good to know they have umbrellas around the pool. This may be a silly question, but did you happen to notice how many pool Cabanas there are? A good amount, or just a few? Thanks for the info, it's appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I agree, I find it very odd. I am big planner, type A personality. And I just love killing the time waiting for the cruise by planning it. This is my first NCL cruise so I wasn't sure if it was common or not. I am already looking at outside vendors for our excursions in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel. I feel like they are losing money by doing this Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I am not sure, which is why I am trying to book it early. I am not sure how many they are. cruzqueen518 Posted January 28, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2017 We are sailing on the Escape Sept 30 and there are only 3 excursions available at this time. One is the Cabanas in Belize at $499 a person, no thank you!

One is the Cabanas in Belize at $499 a person, no thank you! Cabanas are priced as a whole, not per person. I thought the same thing until I read the fine print. Only one person books it. Beach Cabanas accommodate 6 people, pool Cabanas are 4 people Sent from my iPhone using Forums
brookie848 Posted January 28, 2017 #14 Share Posted January 28, 2017 I believe pool cabanas are only 2 people. They were originally supposed to accommodate more, but they dropped it to two.
MizDemeanor Posted January 28, 2017 #15 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Might be a good approach to ask how far out are excursions able to be booked. They do change from season to season so the cruise line wants to keep things fresh and relevant. 10 months out is just anxious on the part of the cruiser and not fresh and relevant on the part of the cruise line. I'm going to have to agree and disagree with you. When it comes to activity based excursions, yes I can see why they all wouldn't be available. However something as a Cabana, which they have a limited amount and that will not be changing I think there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to book early. To me planning is not being anxious on my part IMO Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited January 28, 2017 by NECruiser83

Seeing as ncl is so desperate to make money off us at every turn you'd think they would have stuff available for us to book as early as possible. Personally I like to book and pay for excursions far out as it helps me spread the cost of the trip. Anyway, have you looked at Maya Chan in Costa Maya? It's where nearly everyone from our roll call has decided to go. Edited January 28, 2017 by SquishTheWhale

We want to a dolphin swim and a beach day between Costa Maya and Cozumel, we just haven't decided which one we want to do what. So either Maya Chan and Dolphins Swim in Cozumel or Dolphin Swim in Costa Maya and Playa Mia or Mr Sanchos in Cozumel Sent from my iPhone using Forums
brookie848 Posted January 28, 2017 #21 Share Posted January 28, 2017 The pool cabanas are still listed as accommodating four people. Yes...sorry...they changed this again. Originally they were supposed to be for four, then it dropped down to two for a while, and now it is back to four. There are three in our group and we had planned on getting a pool cabana, but when they opened up for our sailing (September), the pool cabanas were limited to two people. Four people makes a lot more sense. I'm sure many people were not booking them (especially families) because of it being limited to two people for a while.
