tnebell Posted January 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2017 My family and I are thinking about doing the Carnival sponsored shore excursion in Cozumel. All inclusive Passion Island Catamaran. Anyone done this before??
Jennifer410 Posted January 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2017 We are signed up for Passion Island going on the speed boat, but now looking for other alternatives. This excursion seems fine, just curious about other options. Sent from my SM-G925P using Forums mobile app

Rare Kellie in Texas Posted January 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2017 We did the catamaran excursion with Carnival three summers ago. We said at the time that if we ever went back to Cozumel, we'd definitely do the Passion Island excursion again. In the Corona beer commercials, where people are in a bar after work, dressed in their suits and high heels etc. and then they click the beer bottles and the scene switches to a beautiful beach and they're all in swimsuits ... that was filmed on Passion Island. Very beautiful, good buffet lunch and drinks, areas of sun and shade, lots of water toys, and the catamaran ride itself was fun (about 35-40 minutes, if I recall). swimmom2 Posted January 30, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2017 My family has done Passion Island several years ago. It was Ok but not my favorite excursion. It was pretty, but nothing outstanding in my opinion.
13cheermom Posted February 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2017 Have to agree with above opinions, did this exact excursion through Carnival and wouldn't do it again. Go to an AI where they still provide a variety of drinks and endless food choices with nice beach and sand and a pool option. Either Mr. Sanchos or Nachi would be better with no haggling for tips and pictures all day long. Plus you are in control of your day and what you do, not the tour people. It was so annoying to have to stand in a long line and wait to have a picture taken when you had no intentions of purchasing it. We also were asked to stand and listen to this whole marketing strategy about how to tip the workers on the island and how poor they were. The food also was very limited and just sitting out in the open for an extended period of time. We felt that this excursion was overpriced for the amount of time you actually got to spend relaxing on the island.

Vacationdreamer<>< Posted December 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 1, 2017 Can anyone help with this weird question - Passion Island is not actually a separate island near the Cozumel island, is it? It is just a bit of a beachy/penninsula near the northern end of Coz, correct?

Either you have to do an excursion by boat or drive to the end and get on a boat to go over. :)

It is generally accessed by water. - not sure if there is any access possible by land strip.
hawk1972 Posted December 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 3, 2017 We have been to Passion Island twice on ship-sponsored excursions and obviously enjoyed it, or we wouldn't have gone back. We are going to Nachi Cocom in January 2018 for something new. People seem to have varying opinions of PI but we've had good time. The catamaran ride over is nice. Some have taken the Twister boat which is probably more exciting. Both times we spent 3 hours at the beach. We bought a photo standing by the PI sign the first time, but not the second. It's a nice souvenir. The food (chicken nuggets, grilled chicken, fish, salsa, chips, guacamole, etc.) is good and plentiful as are the drinks. They seemed a little stronger the second time. Never felt any pressure for tips or massages or whatever. Good bathrooms are nearby. There was a wedding party there the first time we went and they got kind of wild but we sat in chairs in the shade so they didn't bother us. One woman had so much to drink that they cut off her alcohol and she got kind of mad about that. Groups from different ships arrive and leave at different times so it will be more and less crowded. The first time we went our ship had the beach to ourselves for 1.5 hours. The first time we went we didn't go in the water because it was kind of cool and the water was stirred up, but last year we got in and swam quite a lot. They have some floating structures you can climb on. Overall, I would recommend it, but I relaize there are lots of other activities in Cozumel.
