jen&samcantwait Posted January 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2017 Reading both have great beach & food. Looking for opinion on atmosphere. Going with a group that would rather be in a fun vibe vs something more relaxed. Would Tropicante be the best choice? Rare crewsweeper Posted February 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2017 IMO, Tropicante would be a better choice. It's in the middle of the malecon so you can "mingle"(i.e., pick up the party vibes) with others at beach clubs either side. And Steve's other place, Busters on the Beach, is just 2 doors down. Blue Kay is very nice, but as it's somewhat isolated from other clubs gives a bit more relaxed mood, also there are paying guests at the hotel there who might not appreciate a party-hearty crowd. Nana57 Posted February 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2017 How far is it from the port? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2017 How far is it from the port? Sent from my iPhone using Forums About 5 kilometers. 5 minute taxi ride from port. For Blue Kay, do not take the tram. take a taxi. BK has it's own separate entrance from the road and the tram does not stop there. For Tropicante, if you take the tram, do not get off at the first stop. Tell the driver and he'll take you down the road closer to Tropicante.

Rare crewsweeper Posted February 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2017 One new note...For those of you wishing to take a bike (beach cruiser) down the malecon or further south, Jorge (Oar-Hey) at Tropicante is now renting bikes...$10 an hour/ $30 for the day. He'll even arrange a lunch backed on the bikes and stops at more isolated semi-private beaches south of the malecon, if you wish. Good option for those looking to do something more than just lie on the loungers and sip sip sip all day  When you book with Steve at Tropicante, tell him you want Jorge to arrange something for you.
