Correct !

A retired navy guy told me that the most feared thing at sea was fire.

I know, my father-in-law was retired Navy and he said the same thing. The thing I fear most is an old guy farting his way across the buffet! [emoji16]

On the anthem in order to turn your lights and whatnot on you put your sea pass card in the slot. This does not effect the heat or air conditioning in your cabin. I charged my phone at night when I was in the cabin. It was never an issue.

so wait.. Am I understanding correctly that the outlets in the cabin are not live when I'm not in the cabin?

On some ships (Breakaway and newer), you need to put something in the slot for the power to work. Similarly to many hotel rooms.

It doesn't need to be your keycard though. Any old card will do, so you don't actually need to be there.

I understand that you were just joking, but I just wanted to mention that we were in a Haven Owner Suite on the Jade a couple of years ago, and on the desk there was actually a laptop that we could use if we wanted to (of course, we would have to purchase a internet plan to go online, but the laptop was there....). :)
Wow....I am surprised you had to purchase the plan. My goodness, that suite cost a pretty penny and they couldn't throw in the Internet plan! So let's shoot higher here.....one day we will be able to "virtually travel". In the future we will be able to go back home and check on things while being on the ship at the same time. Sounds impossible I know, but so did the idea of an airplane. Now that will be some perk that I probably won't' live to see the day happen. ha!

The one thing that kind of surprises me, is they are making a big deal about electronics starting fires, however, cigarettes I am certain cause more fires in a year then electronics. True you can only smoke in certain areas, but then again the casino having a bunch of alcohol around as well is not a nice mix. Add that to the point I made earlier. If there is a fire people run away from it an it can slow response to help fight it.
