packedandready Posted February 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2017 We're booked for 2 weeks on the Eclipse. We'd like to rent a car and add a few days in Key West. Looking for hotel recommendations. Would like to stay some place close to the action so we wouldn't have to drive everywhere. Any ideas?
keywester33 Posted February 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2017 In Key West, any accommodation in Old Town will be walking distance to most places. There are many hotels here ranging from large waterfront resorts, to boutique hotels and B&Bs. When are you coming, what is your budget, and what type of hotel do you prefer? You might want to look at Trip Advisor where there are listings of all hotels with reviews and a Q&A forum.

Herfnerd Posted February 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2017 When we visit Key West, we always stay on upper Duval Street - its only a mile (15 minute walk) to "the action". We love the Southernmost House, the Southernmost Beach Resort and even the Blue Marlin. Just a quieter part of town.....
Rare Hlitner Posted February 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2017 We're booked for 2 weeks on the Eclipse. We'd like to rent a car and add a few days in Key West. Looking for hotel recommendations. Would like to stay some place close to the action so we wouldn't have to drive everywhere. Any ideas? Great plan. We have done 5 post cruise (and one pre cruise) drives to Key West...each with a 3 night stay. Where to stay if very dependent on your budget. Our current favorite is called the Pier House Resort...and has a perfect location (with free parking) right at the foot of Duval Street...1 block from Mallory Square. That property has a very nice private pool area, decent restaurant for lunch, and a small private beach (unusual for Key West). Our other favorite hotel is like a very high class inn and is called The Gardens Hotel...which also has an excellent location about a block off Duval Street. But the Gardens is not on the sea.....and tends to be quite pricey (which is why we now prefer the Pier House). When doing a post cruise drive we usually find that we get to the Islamorada area just about lunch time which is a good thing :). There is a waterside cafe/restaurant called the Hungry Tarpon which we find perfect for lunch. Google the place and if you are interested make sure you make a note of its mile marker (its how you find things on the Ocean Highway). Langoustine Posted February 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Google the Eden House in KW. It's charming, has a pool.
RB Bonzo Posted February 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2017 We are real fan of the Banyan Resort. It is very "close" to the action - just a couple blocks to the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square or the bars and restaurants on or near upper Duval. But it is on a quieter street. Rooms are bigger - most are 1 BR suites w/ kitchens. Nice Tiki Bar that serves breakfast and lunch. These are timeshares but there are almost always rooms available for short term rental. The lush tropical gardens are the best part of the place - a real Key West setting. For a really nice boutique hotel, try The Saint. Just as conveniently located and very stylish.
