Surprise! ?

My husband's friends are sailing on the Gem in a few weeks. It seems that this particular cruise works perfectly into my schedule and I want us to go too.

I also want to surprise "the friends". Will the "switchboard" give me their cabin number, or will they connect me if I don't know the cabin number?

I know...privacy issues etc........

The switchboard will connect you.

Unless these are really really really really good friends, I would not crash their vacation. I would let them know in advance. While you think it is great, they are very likely going to think something very different. They have spent a lot of time and money planning their vacation,,,, and it doesn't include tag-alongs.

I have to agree to an extent. I would let them know you're coming too...and I would plan to "do my own thing"...as that might be what they want to do! There is no reason not to go on a cruise that suits you...but do know they may already have plans of their own that won't include you!

LOL....the point of the surprise is so they won't "tag-along" with us or think we will be tied at the hip. We have very different "cruise agendas". The last time we were on the same ship he told me to book him on a private excursion...which he decided to cancel that morning because it was cloudy. So...this way there's no joint advance planning

Well, anyway....he and DH know each other for over 60 years, so I think that qualifies as "really really really good friends" (they emigrated here together).

The wife has dementia, so if anything he'll be happy that I could "free him up" for a couple of hours.

They go on the Gem about once a month....they've done this itinerary countless times (just 2 weeks ago...and this cruise is in April). They barely leave the ship. I'm the one with all the plans, shopping, excursions, casino, gym etc.

They basically eat, get dressed up and dance.

Sounds like you will make their cruise more enjoyable. Have a great time. I would love it our friends did this.
