Becabica Posted March 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2017 On our last HAL cruise, we discovered that Holland America is no longer allowing events that allow knitters/crocheters/handcrafters to meet. Apparently, they are moving in an "exciting new direction" and they don't want to include these groups anymore. This is very disappointing to me because I have enjoyed my meetings onboard and have made some lasting friendships as a result. I would like to see if we can bring pressure on HAL to return these meet-ups to their agenda. :(
leaveitallbehind Posted March 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2017 I would suggest posting this on the HAL boards here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171 Probably will reach a more in tune audience. Good luck!
fishywood Posted March 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2017 There is a big difference between "no longer allowing" those meetings--meaning that if such a group requested use of one of the conference rooms they would be summarily refused--versus HAL simply no longer automatically putting these gatherings on the daily schedule. Are you sure it is the former and not the latter that is the new HAL approach?
Becabica Posted March 12, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted March 12, 2017 Good idea to move it to the Holland America section. How do i delete this one?
bUU Posted March 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2017 There is a big difference between "no longer allowing" those meetings--meaning that if such a group requested use of one of the conference rooms they would be summarily refused--versus HAL simply no longer automatically putting these gatherings on the daily schedule. Are you sure it is the former and not the latter that is the new HAL approach? That was my first reaction to the posting. I have seen other posts about cruise lines simply discontinuing offerings characterized as something more nefarious. I reserve judgement until I see official notice from the cruise line itself which can be confirmed. This message may have been entered using voice recognition. Please excuse any typos. Becabica Posted March 12, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted March 12, 2017 Sorry, I should have been more specific. In the past, the cruise line put a notice in their agenda for anyone interested in meeting. On this cruise, we were told that we were not allowed to have anything in the agenda - we could meet, but had no way to publicize it other than a clipboard in an obscure corner of the library.
