jmacway Posted March 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I am sailing on the Miacle April 29, to Cabo, Mazatlan, PV. Does anyone know if the ships time will be the same as Mazatlan time when we get there on May 2.
bakersdozen12 Posted March 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2017 Ships usually stay on the home port time. I've never been on one that didn't.
jmacway Posted March 14, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted March 14, 2017 In December we sailed the Miracle but only wrnt to Cabo and PV. In Cabo there was an hour difference between ship and land time. Ship time changed in PV. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Forums mobile app
Cruiseman38 Posted March 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2017 The ship will always be on the time the port you boarded from at the start. The ship does not adjust the time to local time. Always stay on ship time.
Island Hopping Posted March 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2017 This is one tricky cruise for time changes. The Miracle doing the 7 day Mexican Riveria cruise will NOT stay on home port time, and will NOT be on the same time as the ports of call. We have done this cruise several times. Ship time will be one hour behind local time in Cabo, PV and Mazatlan. The ship moves their time ahead and then moves it back during the cruise, but never matches local time. Also, if you are booking independent tours, most go by local time as they do more business with local resorts and hotels then cruise ships. So make sure you know what time the tour operators are using.
CRocks Posted March 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2017 Yup, they generally stay on home port time, but not always. We sailed to Hawaii on Miracle + had several time changes each way. They always posted signs near the elevators advising the passengers in advance.

PlanoDebbie Posted March 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Be aware that your Smart phone may change to local time. I always have my old trusty timex analog watch. Unless you are specifically told in announcements and in the fun times to change your clock forward or back, keep on the same time zone for where your ship left port. The only cruise we've ever done a time zone change was to Alaska because the time change from Seattle was 2 or 3 hours to Anchorage.

Your smartphone should NOT be considered your most reliable clock. Ships that dock in San Juan will almost certainly give you access to your carrier. So while it's a great opportunity to make a quick call home, it means that your clock on the phone will immediately switch over to San Juan time. Nothing better than a good watch. riffatsea Posted March 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Be aware also that Mexico does not "spring ahead"(change clocks) until April 1. Definitely listen to the time changes that the captain will announce on the Miracle and will also be listed in the Fun Times. Be careful to stay on ships time.
