From my perspective, the bus tour is a must. Be sure to get off at the Apollo/Saturn V Center, where you will sit in the Apollo 8 firing room with the genuine consoles for a recreated liftoff. Hugely emotional, powerful. Then you get to walk along the HUGE Saturn V rocket; almost hard to believe how big it is.

The display of the space shuttle Atlantis is also a must; it's incredibly well done, with the cargo bay open. (The intro film is terrific too.). And I enjoyed the virtual reality shuttle launch experience.

Those were just some highlights for us. Really, KSC is simply awesome. Have a great trip!

It's a fully escorted excursion. You are not free to do as you please. Your guide will walk you through the rocket garden giving you the history of the space program. Take you over to the Atlantis exhibit (don't miss) giving you time to look at the orbiter or taking you down to the launch simulation ride. Then it's to a private tour bus for the behind the scenes tour which takes you to a couple of places not on the public tour, and finally to the Saturn V building (through a side entrance) where you have free time to explore. Then back to the main facility and escorted back to a bus going to the ship.

It is a fast paced, excellent tour! You see most of the complex, while avoiding the lines.

KSC is amazing. I would go to the KSC website and look at everything they have to offfer. You can select the exhibits you want to see and it will give you a time frame of what it normally takes to walk through. This will give a very good idea of how much time you should plan on being there and what you want to see most. When I was there in January we hit Atlantis as soon as they opened and then took the bus tour we booked. Once we got back from the tour we went and hit all the spots we wanted to see. All in all we were there 7 hours, but we are space nerds :) Have a great time!

Hi! Just wondering how the tour went! We're considering booking this in November, was it worth the money to book through the ship? Were you happy with what you got to see, did you feel like you had enough time there? Do you think you got anything extra from doing the ship excursion vs other people that came for the day? Thanks for any insight you can give me!

KSC is a large place spread out over two campuses.

The main area has the rocket garden - Imax movie theatre and the Shuttle Atlantis display and simulator. I'd recommend you do Atlantis then take the bus tour that will take you around the launch pad then to the second campus where it's all moon stuff including several displays and theatres. you can even touch a moon rock. When you get back to the main campus you can check out the Mars stuff and the early space section if you have time. For me the Atlantis display was the highlight.

We are annual pass holders and love it. Our 9 year old son is a science geek and cannot get enough. Not sure what to recommend specifically as I have never been a cruise tour, but if you have a chance to go to KSC, GO!
