JKerstinJ Posted March 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2017 Are passengers allowed to bring cheese and bread or crackers onboard on departure day? Also, what about cured meat such as Serrano Ham? We would like to bring some specialty cheeses, from home, to enjoy with our champagne and wine during sail away. We will be with friends and thought this would be a great start to our vacation together. This would be for consumption in our suite. I know fruit is forbidden? cb at sea Posted March 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2017 That's right...whatever you bring on, you will have to eat or throw away..can't take it OFF the ship anywhere.

Does that include food bought in ports? If you buy wine or alcohol how do they handle that on ships? JKerstinJ Posted March 27, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted March 27, 2017 Can the cheese be cut at Whole Foods, wrapped, then vacuum sealed at home? We will consume it the same day we board the ship. Or does this mean Cheez Whiz in a can is the only thing allowed? Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Rare LMaxwell Posted March 27, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2017 Once more taking it on isn't the problem, taking it off is where it needs to be factory sealed. Just going by the website. Guests may not bring on board any food items other than baby food and/or dry, nonperishable snack items (cookies, crackers, chips, energy bars, etc). http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/faqSubject.do?faqSubjectName=Food+%26+Beverage
JKerstinJ Posted March 27, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted March 27, 2017 Thanks for the replies. Now I see that it appears to be against Royal Caribbean policy to bring an item like cheese aboard. I would hate to spend the money on quality cheeses just to have to trash them before boarding ☹️ Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Cruisin'4Us Posted March 28, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 28, 2017 Cheez Whiz is a quality cheese! (On a Philly cheese steak that is!) ;p Interesting thought on vacuum sealing items at home. Could even type up an official looking label to put on it! Just kidding. :D
cleophus12 Posted March 28, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 28, 2017 How about the cheese in St Maarteen? I notice there is an Amsterdam cheese store and I'd love to buy some Gouda, but I don't want it confiscated when I get back to the ship.
