Taking fresh flowers on board

Recommended Posts

I took flowers on the Allure cruise last May only because partner had to visit a client and we had to meet on board the ship. Didn't like the idea but gave him something special when he go into the stateroom. No issues what so ever. Enjoy.

taking our first Royal Caribbean cruise from Sydney in April. I love to have flowers in our cabin but they are very expensive to buy from the ship Radiance Of The Seas. Is it allowable to take flowers on board with us? Any other tips on sailing with RCL would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would check what the local laws are. Australian laws are different from US laws.

In Singapore Royal Caribbean was not able to bring the flowers I oredered onboard.

If you are going on the April 18 repositioning to Hawaii, you may not be allowed to take flowers on board.

We did a repositioning cruise from Vancouver to LA that stopped in Seattle. Got off really early and bought a nice bouquet at Pike Market; no problems bringing it on board and then going back out again for the day.

However ... when we re-boarded, mid-afternoon, the railings were lined with Pike Market bouquets that had been confiscated by the powers-that-be. Guess they hadn't arrived yet when we re-boarded that morning.

So, like gagirl, yes, we have seen them confiscated. Guess it depends on the luck of the draw, and possibly the agricultural rules at your destination port.

Australia, California and Hawaii all have very strict laws about importing any agricultural products (and rightly so, not complaining about that ... ) so I would check first before spending money on flowers to take aboard.

Of course, if you are on a roundtrip out of Sydney, none of this will probably apply!

Hope that helps. Have a great cruise!

  • 5 years later...

When I took a cruise out of Seattle, I saw people bringing flowers onboard from Pike Place Market. They had brought collapsible vases like these: https://www.amazon.com/BLOFLO-Collapsible-Expandable-Centerpieces-Contemporary/dp/B09GW2H7W6/ref=sr_1_9?crid=1NZTY9YOR9WWF&keywords=disposable+plastic+vase&qid=1657674087&sprefix=disposable+plastic+vase%2Caps%2C79&sr=8-9

to put the flowers in and were able to bring them on the ship.  This was NCL a while back -- don't know about Royal now.
