jerseyjjs Posted March 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2017 Just got off Pride last week. We boarded through a small tunnel walkway on the ground and entered on deck 0. When we debarked, we walked through the main gangway off deck 2.

springs741 Posted March 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2017 When we debarked on March 12 we used the gangway. This was the repo cruise so we embarked in Tampa.

Iam1for1 Posted March 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 30, 2017 Our local paper (I live in Alexandria VA) said it was back up a few weeks ago, but there was malfunction and it was not being used. Not sure yet if it's fixed again. We sail 4-30-17 so curious too. I am not opposed to not having to walk the ramps!;p

Oriolesfan62 Posted March 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2017 Has the Gangway been replaced yet at the Port of Baltimore? We took the 3/12- 3/19 cruise a couple of weeks ago and boarded via the Gangway straight to deck 2, but on return exited on deck A. Beings it was our first cruise not sure if this is standard. Souper Cruiser Posted March 31, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 31, 2017 We left on 3/19 and boarded via deck A but returned via the gangway. I think there was a minor glitch on the 19th. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Oriolesfan62 Posted March 31, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2017 Makes sense. They seemed to be understaffed on the 19th. Took us forever to debark. When we embarked on the 12th we were literally sitting at the lobby bar on the ship 1/2 hour after arriving at port. fair-winds39 Posted April 25, 2017 #17 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Has the Gangway been replaced yet at the Port of Baltimore? We left from Baltimore on March 26. We used the gangway when boarding and also when we returned the following week.
JMAE Posted April 27, 2017 #18 Share Posted April 27, 2017 On the 4/2/17 Pride cruise we use the gangway for embarkation and debarkation. I did notice they keep the gangway further back as the ship pulls into the pier.
shirlden Posted April 30, 2017 #19 Share Posted April 30, 2017 Wow I was on the Pride last May when the ship hit the gangway and will be back on the Pride May 14th...basically it took them almost a year to fix the gangway.
Thorncroft Posted April 30, 2017 #20 Share Posted April 30, 2017 Wow I was on the Pride last May when the ship hit the gangway and will be back on the Pride May 14th...basically it took them almost a year to fix the gangway. The old one looked pretty twisted. I'm sure that new sections had to be fabricated and most are made in Europe and have to be shipped over to the US. A complete new gangway can run into the millions of dollars. It was an expensive event, in any case.
shirlden Posted April 30, 2017 #21 Share Posted April 30, 2017 I would think their insurance should have paid for it all but a deductible and yes it was pretty bad when we hit it it came crashing down on a truck. It took 2 hours extra to get off the boat.
kram2017 Posted April 30, 2017 #22 Share Posted April 30, 2017 I don't care how we get on the ship just so I do get on it! LOL!!! We sail next Sunday May 7th and am so excited!!! Sent from my SM-T230NU using Forums mobile app

It took 2 hours extra to get off the boat. Maritime P&I (Property & Indemnity) insurance is of the mutual insurance type, so all of the "insurance" money came from Carnival's pocket anyway. It will result in higher premiums to remain in the P&I club over the next few years.
