jdlg4silb Posted April 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2017 My wife and I will be spending 2 days pre-cruise in Rome and were interested in taking a cooking class. Has anyone taken a class like this in Rome? Thanks in advance for your help!
Softball20 Posted April 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2017 I did a cooking class in Rome a few years ago, and it was one of the most fun things I had ever done! I did it through Cooking Classes in Rome - amazing! Chef Andrea and his wife were awesome hosts. Their facility is located in the Trastevere area of Rome, which is also one of my favorite areas. There were about ten of us in the class and it was very, very hands on. I highly recommend it!
Rare cruisemom42 Posted April 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2017 If you've been to Rome many times, then disregard the advice below... But if it's a first visit, I would highly recommend reconsidering a cooking class when there are so many outstanding things to see in Rome. I realize everyone's got different interests, but it would be a shame to travel so far to be in one of the most iconic cities in the world, only to spend one's time in a kitchen (albeit an Italian one).... Agreed! While I loved my cooking class and would do it again, I had been to Rome a few times and had seen lots of it (although one can always see more)! I also was there by myself for the better part of a day as we had just come off a cruise and a few days there post cruise, as my husband had headed back and I was staying on to spend some a couple days with my BFF who was heading to Rome with her family. For me, this was a perfect way to spend the day in between other parts of the trip.
jdlg4silb Posted April 9, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Thanks for the advice - we have been to Rome before, and have done all the touristy things, so we though this time we;d try and get some local flavor by doing something we truly enjoy....cooking...and eating. I will definitely look top the Cooking Class you recommended. Thanks again.
brunello22 Posted April 10, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Check out the websites Active Gourmet Holidays or Ciao Laura. They offer day classes as well as multi-day classes. I used them in Montalcino and Praiano.
