Rare MMDown Under Posted April 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2017 After disembarking from on a ship with little Christmas decorations, we enjoyed the David Jones decorated Christmas windows. You might like to catch the ferries to Manly Beach and Watson's Bay and do walks from there. From Watson's Bay you can catch a bus to North Bondi beach, then walk along Bondi Beach, before catching a bus back to the city. From Bondi, there is a beautiful coastal walk to Bronte Beach. Sydney is a walker's paradise. If you will be in Sydney on Boxing Day, you might like to take a picnic lunch to Watson's Bay headland and watch the colourful start of the annual Boat Race to Hobart. GUT2407 Posted April 25, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Your hotel may put on a Christmas Lunch. Check with them.

Karennella Posted May 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Christmas Day lunch will be expensive in most places because the staff have to be paid at least double rates. If you are happy with Asian food you will probably find a lot of restaurants open in China Town. My cousin had to call a plumber on Christmas day last year. My poor husband nearly had a stroke when he heard the cost! I am pretty sure the zoo is open on Christmas day and all public transport is operational
wishfulone Posted May 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2017 If you're looking for a traditional English Christmas Lunch or Dinner your hotel would be the best starting point. But if you're happy to just enjoy a day out and about you'd do best to head to a beach or habourside location and look for fish and chips. Google up what's open at Manly and Watsons Bay. The ferries and water taxis will be running to both locations. If you want to go further afield you could catch a train to Bondi or Cronulla.
