Happily@Sea Posted May 2, 2017 #103 Share Posted May 2, 2017 It's weird - Every Monday [all season]: 2 Signature class ships 3 Tuesdays: 2 Vista class ships On Wednesday May 17: 2 'R' Class ships Then everyone settles into their schedule: - Eurodam & N Amsterdam on Mondays - Oosterdam alone for season on Tuesdays -Noordam & Zaandam switching off Wed & Thurs for season -Volendam & Amsterdam on Fridays for season [2 'R's again] NO DAM ships on Sat or Sun. bUU Posted May 2, 2017 #104 Share Posted May 2, 2017 That makes sense to me. If you figure they use Wednesday or Thursday each week for maintenance and upkeep, they've carved out a five day work week, with weekends off. That's pretty much what I've got. Not sure who you are referring to regarding five day work weeks.

The local businesses including excursion operators can build their business models around a five day work week and miss very few tourists that way. Once the season is in full swing there will be cruise ships in Juneau every day. Only HAL has ships on the five weekdays. The season is short and there are lots and lots of cruise ship passengers to take care of!

Happily@Sea Posted May 4, 2017 #111 Share Posted May 4, 2017 That is why it was confusing to me! I knew there were ships on weekends too. If you read my original post, I only listed DAM ships and their schedules for Juneau. It's weird - Every Monday [all season]: 2 Signature class ships 3 Tuesdays: 2 Vista class ships On Wednesday May 17: 2 'R' Class ships Then everyone settles into their schedule: - Eurodam & N Amsterdam on Mondays - Oosterdam alone for season on Tuesdays -Noordam & Zaandam switching off Wed & Thurs for season -Volendam & Amsterdam on Fridays for season [2 'R's again] NO DAM ships on Sat or Sun. This is a HAL forum, we are on the initial thread for the sail-ins and sailaways in Juneau, WHY would I care about some interloping ships from another cruise line? :D The only time I mention them is when they are blocking my view of the beautiful, elegant DAM ships on the day of the sail-in posting. Kathi can mention them all she wants in the post for that day, me - I don't care. ;p  :D

All I did was ask since I was a bit confused by bUU's post about what the 5-day work week was about. And since there are ships everyday - dam and non-dam - that 5-day work week idea is nonsensical.
