MelAnnDoll Posted May 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2017 we called RCCL and they said to have everyone call in and say it was ok to link their reservation to ours. They did that. Now do they all just pick the same my time dining and we're good? Or do we also need reservations? There are 8 of us spread over 4 rooms
Clarea Posted May 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Won't hurt to have reservations, but I would also visit the MTD desk as soon as you board to confirm your signle large table.

There are 8 of us spread over 4 rooms Definitely link reservations so when you call or show up a MTD to make a definite time for a table for 8, they will get you all at the same table. If you can book a time asap so you get a time you want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cb at sea Posted May 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2017 You do NOT need to "link" anything if you have MTD....simply show up together, and that's how you'll be seated! It's only for traditional seating that you need to "link" to be assured you're at the same table. If you have a larger party, go to the dining room when you board, and set a time for the 1st night, so they'll be prepared for a larger party....after that, you can simply tell them when you'll be there the next evening. mike123abc Posted May 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2017 If you want to have all 8 at the same table sitting at specific times each night, booking in advance of the cruise is best. When you make the reservation under cruise planner you can give the reservation numbers of other rooms to find the people to add to your reservation. It depends on your personality. If you want it all planned out in advance (i.e. note shore excursions and sailing times to calculate best dinner time for your group) it is best to make reservations in advance for every night. If you are a we will eat when we are ready every night type then you probably do not want to be tied to a reservation.
luvsmike Posted May 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2017 We are just back from the oasis with a party of 8 and had MTD. If you are linked together only one person has to make the reservations for everybody. We struggled with them to get the time we wanted. They wanted us to choose 5:30 or 7:45. We only have this problem when sailing with other people. We really wanted 6:30 or 7:00 but they said they couldn't do it. In the end we ate at one specialty restaurant at 7:00 and at in the MDR at 5:45 3 nights and 7:45 the other 3 nights. But we made the reservations on the first day...maybe if you make them in advance you will have better luck. It wouldn't matter so much but we had shows booked and had to work around them. spookwife Posted May 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2017 MTD has an over abundance of 2 and 4 top tables and far fewer 6-10 tables available as compared to Traditional. therefore if you all want to eat at the same table you will be much more limited as to when they can accommodate you which is why they pushed those dining times. if you walk up without reservations, chances are higher that you will be waiting 10-20 minutes to be seated. prime dining hours are 6-7 which means everyone wants to eat then and they will accommodate a lot of smaller groups first.
