Splitting Diamond Plus Couple

My husband and I each purchased a next cruise with our own name. We just changed the cruise to the Panama Canal. My sister in law and brother in law are going with us. When I called Royal to change the cruise, the vacation planner suggested keeping my husband and I in separate rooms so we can each get the $350 balcony discount. The planner told me once on board I could go to guest services to have my husband switched to my room. Has anyone heard this? Has anyone done this?

Yes...it's legit and it's done ALL the time!

It's been done and is a good way to save money.

 

Be forewarned, it can be a bit of a pain as it requires a visit to Guest Services upon embarkation. After the switch, be sure to confirm existing dining arrangements and excursions. And check your invoice at the end of the cruise.

You can just go to guest service and get extra room keys made.

Just ensure that you in addition to keeping the room keys straight, you don't mix up the partners in each cabin.:p
