Milan to Bellagio

We are planning some pre-cruise excursions before our ship sails from Venice this September. We are thinking staying in Bellagio for a couple of days. We are wondering if it is practical to fly directly into Milan from Los Angeles, then take the train to wherever and the ferry to Bellagio all in one day. We are all in our early 60s and excited to see this beautiful area, but don't want to kill ourselves in the process. Suggestions??

I'm with Hank and the rental car. Then, you can spread out from Bellagio to Lugano, even up as far as St. Moritz if you want. I did a day drive down from St. Moritz to Milan - it's a beautiful drive!!!

Now, if you travel luggage-heavy, look at renting a van.

Others may know more but when we were in Bellagio it seemed difficult to park a vehicle anywhere near the hotel we stayed at.

Also there are ferries running all over the lake and so much to do either side of the lake that I do not think it is necessary to go further than the lake unless you have a considerable number of days there in the region.
