Yacht Club drink package Clarification

We are sailing on the Seaside next year and I was under the impression that drinks for Yacht club guests were only included when they were "purchased" from the bars within the yacht club. However, recently on their website I read :

"Unlimited drinks in all MSC Yacht Club areas, the mini-bar in your suite and throughout the whole ship"

Is this new? or am I missing something?

Thank you in advance.

It is new and it is true. It makes the YC experience even better.

Yes ................. inclusive drinks shipwide came into force on 1st April, last. However, it's still not clear what drinks are/aren't included outside of the YC enclave. In fact, from the title of the thread, I actually thought this was going to be the clarification we're all looking for!

LOL...me too! ;)

We do have friends in the YC on the Divina this week. Will try to come back here and post their experience once they confirm. Seems as though they've been able to get whatever they want - whenever they want - anyplace on board, at least so far! ;):D

Sounds promising. If it could just be ascertained whether items with an asterisk are included or not, that could be helpful. Perhaps not the top-shelf brands, but what about specialist coffees/hot chocolates in the dedicated coffee bar, for example? Or the wonderful sundaes other than just gelato? It seems we need YC guests to attempt to order individual items to determine what is/not included exactly. I'll be finding out for myself Friday 4 weeks - can't wait! I'll be reporting back with my findings ............... and, hopefully, with an idea of what criteria the bar staff use to determine what's included.

Just had my booking confirmation and it states.....

ultimate beverage selection in Msc yacht club areas and all bars and restaurants of the ship according to the drink selections available in the different venues.

I'm no expert in Italian English but I think that covers most things. We had the ultimate beverage package on splendida and it covered everything on the coffee bar menu [emoji3]

I've done 3 cruises in YC and 12 more in balcony & Aurea cabins/suites. I think I'm fairly familiar with the MSC product. However, the introduction, last month, to include drinks ship-wide was bereft of info as to what's included OUTSIDE the YC enclave - hence the discussion!

Bea,

You are very helpful to everyone here. Last summer before our first MSC cruise you provided some really good insight for me into the Yacht club and I appreciate it.

I was wondering the same thing as you, if the specialty coffees/gelato from the mid ship location ( I can't remember the name) will be free for Yacht Club members.

Hopefully someone will report back. Otherwise, I will after our 2nd MSC Yacht Club cruise this summer!

Also i believe the yacht club is a great price for what you get. For 2018 we have 4 cruises booked on msc yacht club and 2 cruises with rccl. Rccl is losing out on 4 cruises that we would have gone with them but their prices have gotten so high we are trying other lines. Now we have never even sailed on a msc ship yet and have 4 cruises booked in their yacht club for 2018 and two for 2019.

The prices for msc are half what i would pay on rccl. Our june 2018 yacht club cruise is $10k for two weeks on seaside. Compared to $9k for one week in a crown loft suite on harmony of the seas. The crown loft suite does not come with all the amenities of yacht club. But the cabin is larger than a yc1 by a couple hundred feet.

We do see the value of cruising with msc in the yacht club or else we would not have 4 cruises booked.

Thank you, SR ............... that's really nice of you - I'm glad to hear it was of some help. It's a great forum and I get more from it than I give.

I should have known better than to respond to the troll. We don't get too many on here. Thankfully, the majority of contributors are decent, pleasant and respectful.

I call the mid-ship location "The Piazza" as each of the Fantasia class ships have different names for it. I'll be on Meraviglia soon and am looking forward to finding out if there's a similar area and what's included for YC guests. I'm particularly interested in the speciality hot chocolates served in the coffee bar. I don't drink coffee and I sometimes have one with Baileys for elevenses when onboard. It's a special treat for me on the ship as I try to resist the wonderful desserts and all the other temptations offered. The "After-eight" one goes particularly well with Baileys.

I'll be reporting back soon with my experience of the ship-wide inclusions/exclusions. Whether there'll be more clarity remains to be seen. MSC doesn't do simple and straightforward.

Oh my... the cherry hot chocolate and a side order of their home made chocolate to dunk. That is what my 15 year old daughters favourite moment on Splendida was!

I just had to try it..... and then make double sure [emoji3]

That's my favourite, too, when I'm foregoing the Baileys.
