sydney dog Posted May 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2017 Does anyone know if you can get a painkiller on the Fascination? Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted May 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2017 It's a mixed bag. Some bartenders know how to make it and will, some will say they don't serve them or don't know how to make them, and others will cite some obscure Carnival rule, leaving you disgusted. But some! Some who have never even heard of the drink will go to their cellphone and pull up the ingredients and cheerfully make you one!!! Same with a Zombie! (if you can handle it)
attran99 Posted May 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2017 While I didn't order it because I'm not a coconut fan, a few people in line for the bar did order it. The ship has all the ingredients to make it.
stevefrisco Posted May 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2017 They'll make anything if they have the stuff for it. I really like Incredible Hulks which are Hennessy and Hypnotq which CCL doesn't carry. I also really like White Russians, I've never seen it on a menu but have never had a prOblem getting one made. I'll be honest, I thought u were trying to score some potentially illegal stuff at first!
coevan Posted May 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2017 every bar has the basic ingredients for a painkiller, OJ, Pineapple juice, Coco Lopez, light rum, topped with dark rum and nutmeg. I did have a few bartenders refuse. The Red Frog Pub bartender said sure, no problem.
BobbyD Posted May 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2017 OJ, pineapple juice and Malibu will also get the job done! All three tend to be fully stocked in the bars. Thirsty!
tef43 Posted May 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2017 The "true" Painkiller is made with Pusser's British Navy Rum. Nothing else even comes close.

tef43 Posted May 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2017 Pretty sure Pain Killers were on the menu in Red Frog Pub on Sunshine Carnival's version: Caña Brava Rum, Malibu Coconut Rum and Tropical Juices Definitely not the same as what you would find at the Soggy Dollar on JVD. fresnel468 Posted May 18, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2017 The "true" Painkiller is made with Pusser's British Navy Rum. Nothing else even comes close. Agree! Tasty Painkillers can be made with other rums but the Pusser's original is supreme. Unfortunately, the Red's Painkiller served in the Red Frog Pub is closer to a fruity umbrella drink than a Painkiller.
Flatbush Flyer Posted May 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 18, 2017 The "true" Painkiller is made with Pusser's British Navy Rum. Nothing else even comes close. Yes - Pussers was the original. But it's sometimes hard to find. Most sailors will use Mount Gay Eclipse, which they'll usually have onboard. SouthCaribbean2017 Posted June 2, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 2, 2017 I suppose this is a good place to ask - which Fascination bar menu has the best cocktails? Or most interesting?
SadieN Posted June 2, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Alchemy bar deck 9 aft. The ship should have one. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Ashiepooh Posted June 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I don't understand...why would bartenders not want to make it? Doesn't sound like a frozen drink which in my opinion is more work than what a painkiller would be.

SouthCaribbean2017 Posted June 16, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I'll try again: As there's no Alchemy Bar on Fascination, what's the next best choice for interesting cocktails/drinks?
coevan Posted June 16, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 16, 2017 There is no Painkiller key on the POS, so they don't know how to ring them up. The Red Frog was the only bar we found them, but they did not grate nutmeg on top.
DreadPirateRobert Posted June 16, 2017 #21 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Carnival's version: Caña Brava Rum, Malibu Coconut Rum and Tropical Juices Definitely not the same as what you would find at the Soggy Dollar on JVD. Thank you for defending the real "Painkiller" I've had them all through the BVIs and Carnival' version is a hollow comparison. As a matter of fact, Carnival's selection of rums in general is a joke. The Red Frog Rum Bar has a worse selection than my local watering hole. They really need to work on that.
